CS2: Ranking System [Full List Explained]

Learn how does the two ranking system of CS2 work and how they fare compared to CSGO ranking system.

With two different ranking systems- Competitive Ranks and the Premier Mode CS Ranks, enthusiasts must know how both CS2 Ranking systems work and how they fare when compared to the original CSGO ranking system when one brings up the topic of CS2 vs. CSGO.

Key Takeaways
  • CS2 competitive ranks work similarly to CSGO ranks, but what sets it apart is that players get their ranks per map.
  • There are 18 different competitive ranks in CS2.
  • Premier Mode ranks, on the other hand, are universal, and the map is selected after going through a pick and ban phase.
  • Players will receive a CS Rating between 0 and 35000 after winning ten placement matches; depending on your rating, you will be placed in one of the seven ranks.

Competitive Ranks In CS2

The Competitive Rank system of CS2 is pretty much the same as the original CSGO. It has the same ranks as CSGO, and players increase their rank by winning.

But unlike CSGO, players’ ranks will differ for each map they’ve played and not be universal.

Allow me to elaborate:

  • If a player used to play in the Mirage map online, then he will only have his competitive rank in the Mirage map, while his rank will be entirely different in the maps they rarely played or never played at all.
  • It is one of the major differences when one brings up the topic of the CS2 vs. CSGO ranking system.

If you ask me personally, I believe this change was made because since CSGO has been around for so long, many players have fully memorized popular maps such as Mirage. So, if you’re one of the pro players in CS2, you can test your skills by checking whether you are actually good at the game or only had a high rank because you had mastered your favorite map from CSGO.

All Competitive Ranks

Now, allow me to list all the competitive ranks in CS2:

  • Silver I
  • Silver II
  • Silver III
  • Silver IV
  • Silver Elite
  • Silver Elite Master
  • Gold Nova I
  • Gold Nova II
  • Gold Nova III
  • Gold Nova Master
  • Master Guardian I
  • Master Guardian II
  • Master Guardian Elite
  • Distinguished Master Guardian
  • Legendary Eagle
  • Legendary Eagle Master
  • Supreme Master First Class

Premier Mode Ranks

In Premier mode, the ranks are universal and not different for each map.

However, players do not have the choice to choose a map on their own; rather, players will go through the pick and ban phase. The one map left at the end will be decided as the map for the match.

In this CS2 Ranking system, players will not know which map they are getting, therefore making things fair for everyone. By the looks of things, it seems as if the Premier Mode ranks will be the backbone of the CS2’s competitive scene because its ranking system makes more sense when one talks about competitive matches.

Players will receive their CS Rating after winning ten placement matches. You will be assigned a number between 0 and 35000, and then you’ll have the option to compare your rating with others. Each rank has its own designated color and will showcase just how good you are in CS2.

Rating List

Here, I will be listing which rating indicates which rank in CS2:

  • Grey ( 0 – 4,999 )
  • Light Blue (5,000 – 9,999)
  • Blue (10,000 – 14,999)
  • Purple (15,000 – 19,999)
  • Pink (20,000 – 24,999)
  • Red (25,000 – 29,999)
  • Gold (30,000+)

Remember that your rating will increase or decrease depending on whether you win or lose a match. Consider reading how to rank up fast in the CS2 guide if you wish to learn more about it.

With that, my guide on the CS2 Ranking system and how it fares when compared to CSGO ends. I hope my guide helped you understand the brand-new take on the ranking system.
