Obtaining the Rold Medallion
Melina will offer the player the Rold Medallion right after the Morgott boss fight, setting you up to head toward the Grand Lift of Rold.Once your cryptic overseer has handed you the Rold Medallion. Your job now is to gallop to the Grand Lift of Rold, which is located at the east of the Royal Capital Leyndall.
Activating the Grand Lift of Rold
The best way to get started in this case is to begin from the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace which is situated in Leyndell, Royal Capital. You can’t miss it if you’ve already beat Morgott, the Omen King. Simply look it up on your map and fast-travel to it from a nearby Site of Grace.- From the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace, head left up the stairs and go through a doorway, leading you to a two-way street.
- Take a left at the two-way street and continue straight until you reach a sizable halfway-opened brace door.
- As you pass through the door, you’ll notice snow on the ground, and you’ll encounter a gargoyle-type enemy.
- Proceed straight up the stairs until you come across a doorway on the left. Be prepared to face various enemies in this area.
- Enter the doorway on the left, and you’ll find an elevator (lift). Activate the lift and ride it up.
- After the lift stops, head straight ahead. You’ll find the Flamedrake Talisman on the left side near a flight of stairs.
- Follow the path until you reach another lift, but this time, you’ll be descending. Stand on the protruded platform to activate the lift and begin your descent.
- Upon reaching the bottom and exiting the room, you’ll see a message on the screen indicating “Forbidden Lands.”
- Rest at the nearby Site of Lost Grace to save your progress. If you have already summoned Torrent Horse, your Spirit Steed, you can now ride it eastward.
- Follow the path until you reach the Grand Lift of Rold. However, before you can enter the structure, you’ll encounter the Black Blade Kindred, which is an optional boss. You can choose to ignore or challenge this boss.
- Once you reach the heart of the Great Lift of Rold, press the “Event Action” button to hoist the Rold Medallion. This action will trigger two statues to come to life.
- After hoisting the Rold Medallion, a cutscene will play, and the Grand Lift of Rold will serve its purpose, transporting you to the Mountaintops of the Giants

Mountaintops of the Giants, West Map Fragment:

- From the Freezing Lake Site of Grace, head southeast towards the road.
- Follow the road inward until you arrive at the Giants’ Gravepost Site of Lost Grace.

My Thoughts On The Mountaintops Of The Giants
From my experience, the Mountaintops of the Giant’s Location was easily the weakest part of my journey through the world of Elden Ring. It just felt unnecessary, not as well crafted as other areas, and most importantly, it felt rushed. There are no unique enemy types, the massive difficulty spike is frustrating, and the level design is subpar and uninspired.
I personally had no motivation to explore this area fully, but even then, the Mountaintops of the Giants has its fair share of surprises and caves that players can explore if they want some nice loot and runes.
Before I end my guide, I highly encourage players to maximize their experience with the Elden Ring best settings and performance guide. In addition, it might do you one better to find out the top 15 Ashes of War in the game and revamp your playstyle.
But that is all from me, do let me know what you think about Elden Ring in the comment section below.
