Error Code 279 can be frustrating to see pop up in Roblox. The error appears as you launch a game, blocking you from going further. The problem has been around for a while now, But how do we go around it? Don’t worry; this guide will take you through all the steps to get back to smooth sailing.
The cause behind this error is generally a Windows Firewall blockage, but it could extend to multiple issues related to Game Files or your Internet Connection.
Make sure you ensure your internet connection is strong enough:
Try all of the listed methods to fix Error Code 279 on Roblox:
- Clear the Roblox Cache.
- Allow Roblox through the Firewall.
- Flush your DNS cache.
- Disable Adblocker.
Clear Your Roblox Cache
Sometimes your game data can get corrupted due to a multitude of reasons. Corrupted files will cause the game to not work properly which might lead to the Error Code 279 error popping up.
Deleting the game to fix Error Code 279 is fine because it will just redownload a stable copy again when you reboot the site or the app. That is why I suggest clearing your cache for Roblox.
To do so, follow the steps below.
- Press Win+R to open the Run window > %localappdata% > press Enter.
- Now search for the Roblox folder.
- Once found, press the Delete key to remove the folder.
Once done, Restart your PC so the changes take effect.
Allow Roblox Through the Windows Firewall
Windows Firewall can sometimes flag and disable network access to sites or servers that are not in any way malicious. Similarly, it can block the connection to the Roblox Servers.
That is why I suggest allowing Roblox through the Windows Firewall so it doesn’t accidentally block the connection and cause the error to pop up. This proved useful to many players.
Clear Your DNS Cache
Sometimes, the cached information of the DNS (Domain Name System) can become corrupted, leading to unexpected behavior or connection problems. Clearing the cache removes these corrupted entries and allows your device to start fresh with clean information.
So Clearing your DNS Cache could help when fixing Error Code 279 in Roblox.
- Press your Win key, type cmd and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig /flushdns, and hit Enter.
- If it says Successfully Flushed the DNS Resolver Cache, you are done.
Disable Your Adblocker Extension
If you are playing on a browser, having an Adblocker can sometimes interfere with your connection to the game servers. This is because the advertisements on the site are the source of income for both the developers of the game and Roblox itself.
To disable or delete the Adblock extension, simply:
- Click on the three vertical dots on the top right of your browser > Extensions > Manage Extensions.
- Click on the Toggle to disable or Remove to delete whatever Adblock extension you are using.
My Thoughts
The error itself is not hard to solve, but the fact that it’s a common error and the developers still have not taken notice raises some eyebrows. This is although players have taken their complaints to forums like Reddit, Quora, and even Roblox Dev Forums.
Players were extremely frustrated that even though their internet was working fine, their Roblox environment kept getting destroyed.
And My guess is that error code 279 destroys Roblox's environment. Look at my Wi-Fi and data pictures. I'm at home, so my Wi-Fi is working really well. I think error code 279 is the worst error code that causes anger to Roblox users who won't let Roblox do it pic.twitter.com/iuE3IJQXvg

The developers at Roblox have yet to address the error even though some people are getting the error despite having no internet problems. This kind of negligence can cause community unrest quickly, leading to people stopping playing the game.
