Key Takeaways

Fixing the error won’t seem as hard when you apply the fixes below:

  1. Log out of all other Devices.
  2. Flush your DNS & Roblox Cache.
  3. Update Roblox.

Log Out Of All Other Devices

Let’s first address the reason for the pop-up the error gives us. Since the main culprit is multiple logins, I recommend you log out of all devices other than your present one. As Roblox doesn’t allow more than a single concurrent user on an account, this can be a surefire method of ridding yourself of the error.

  • Expert Tip: If you find unrecognized places logged into your account, consider changing your password and enabling 2FA.

To log out of other devices, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Roblox Website > Sign into your account.
  2. In the top-right corner, click on the Gears Icon > Click on Settings.

Update Roblox To the Latest Version

Also noticed by players on forums, Roblox can throw Error Code 264 if you are not on the latest version of the client. Developers frequently address compatibility issues and bugs in newer releases, making the experience smoother and more stable. Additionally, they have to make sure that everyone is on the same version.

If there is a version mismatch, having an equal experience becomes harder: People could use exploits from older versions that are gone for you. So, you stand a good chance of minimizing any issues by staying current with updates.

On PC, updating Roblox is as simple as relaunching a game. Just visit their site and hit play on any experience. From there, the browser will open the client and automatically start the process.

Clear Roblox Cache & Flush Your DNS

While the cache is there for your good, it can cause harm just as readily as well. At this point in the guide, I suspect your cache might have a previous session recorded. It might have made an error of not closing one due to a game crash or the constant overwriting.

So, I would advise that you clear it if only to give the application a clean slate. If you don’t know to, read our cumulative guide on clearing cache. Do note that if you are on the web version of Roblox, you’ll also need to clear the browser’s cache.

Similarly, your DNS Cache can get broken If you change networks a lot. So, remember to flush that as well. Doing so will clean the locally stored DNS information, potentially fixing Error Code 264.

My Thoughts

Encountering these problems can be a frustrating experience, as it interrupts the seamless enjoyment of the platform. While Roblox undoubtedly offers a vast and engaging gaming environment, the recurrence of this issue highlights a need for more effective troubleshooting and resolution mechanisms.

Even though the issue has been frequent, with players reporting it on Roblox Forums and Reddit, there has been no acknowledgment. This is a common practice among the company to address nothing on the Official Roblox Twitter besides complete outages.

While I would love for them to be more transparent, the Official Roblox Status Page is often detailed enough. However, in any case, at least the solutions are simple to implement. So, I don’t believe you will have much of a problem going through them.

Lastly, if everything fails to work, contact Roblox Support and report your problem directly. They will be better suited to resolve your issue at that point.
