Grounded Floors: How To Unlock And Build

This Grounded guide explains how you can unlock the blueprints for Floors in the game.

Building your bases or fortress is going to be the main goal in Grounded, and that cannot be accomplished until you know how to build a floor in Grounded. Floors will help create the base of your house or fortress and will make it easier for you to place other items on them.

Key Takeaways
  • Grounded is a survival game where the player must explore and gather resources to craft structures such as a floor, wall, and roof for survival.
  • Grass, stem, curved grass, and stem floors can be built in the game.
  • The blueprints for grass and stem floors can be obtained by purchasing Multi-Story Bases and Fortified Bases from BURG.L the robot at the hidden lab in the Oak Tree.
  • The blueprints for curved grass and stem floors can be obtained by purchasing Curved Bases from the science shop in the secret lab of the oak tree in the game.
  • The Pond BURG.L chip must be returned to BURG.L to unlock the ability to purchase Curved Bases.
  • Grass and stem floors can be built using materials such as grass planks, weed stems, and crude ropes.

Location Of Floor Blueprints In Grounded

Following are the different floor types that you can build in Grounded:

  • Grass Floors
  • Stem Floors
  • Curved Grass And Stem Floors
  • Bur Floors

Now, I will discuss the location of blueprints for each of these floors in the game.

Grass And Stem Floors

Grass And Stem Floor blueprints can be unlocked by purchasing Multi-Story Bases and Fortified Bases from BURG.L the robot at the hidden lab in the Oak Tree. These two types of floors can be unlocked very early in the game as you progress through the story.

Following are the Grass Floors and the materials needed to craft them:

  • Grass Half Floor: 2 Grass Planks
  • Grass Floor: 4 Grass Planks
  • Triangle Floor: 2 Grass Planks

Following are the Stem Floors and the materials needed to build them:

  • Stem Half Floor: 2 Weed Stems And 1 Crude Rope
  • Stem Floor: 4 Weed Stems And 2 Crude Ropes
  • Triangle Stem Floor: 2 Weed Stems And 1 Crude Rope

The blueprints for grass and stem floors can literally be obtained in the first few main missions of the game. As soon as you wake up, follow the guidelines of the game and reach the mysterious box near the first science center.

You will find your first puzzle in the mysterious box, and solving it will cause a huge explosion at the Oak Tree in the game, as you can see in the image above. The game will prompt you to investigate that explosion after the cutscene is over.

You will need to reach the oak tree in order to progress your story in the game further. It is effortless to spot the oak tree in the game. Just look upwards, and you should be able to see it. Start moving in the direction of the tree, and make sure to run away from any vicious bugs that you encounter.

Once you reach the site of the explosion at the oak tree, you will find the entrance to a secret lab, which should look like the image above. Enter the lab and continue until you find yourself a robot. The robot is known as BURG.L in the game, and he is lying down in the lab.

Help BURG.L get up and talk to it. Exhaust all dialogue until BURG.L instructs you to perform a biometric scan at the nearby terminal in the lab. That Terminal will scan your hand and unlock a shop where you can purchase blueprints for Raw Science Points.

Fortified Bases also become available to purchase for 2500 Raw Science Points at the science shop once you perform the biometric scan. Purchasing the Fortified Bases will unlock the normal stem floors in the game.

The Curved Grass and Stem Floors can be unlocked by purchasing Curved Bases from the science shop in the secret lab of the oak tree in the game. However, Curved Bases does not become available to purchase until you return one of BURG.L’s chips back to him. The chip in question here is the Pond BURG.L chip.

Following are the curved floors in the game and the items needed to build them:

  • Stem Curved Floor: 4 Weed Stems and 2 Crude Ropes
  • Stem Curved Half Floor: 2 Weed Stems and 2 Crude Ropes
  • Grass Curved Floor: 4 Grass Planks
  • Grass Curved Half Floor: 2 Grass Planks

The Pond BURG.L chip is actually not that hard to find. Once you exit the secret lab at the oak tree, you will see a huge pond in front. Swim to the huge structure that you see in the center, and then you will have to make a dive underneath the building. There you will find the secret entrance to another lab. In that lab, there will be the Pond chip that you can give to BURG.L in order to unlock the Curved Bases at the science shop.

Bur Floors

The last types of floor blueprints that you can unlock in Grounded are the Bur Floor Blueprints. You do not need to do any quest for BURG.L in order to unlock the blueprints for these floors. Instead, all you need to do is analyze a resource material.

Following are the bur floors in the game and the materials needed to build them:

  • Bur Floor: 4 Spiky Burs and 2 Lint Ropes
  • Bur Half Floor: 2 Spiky Burs and 1 Lint Rope
  • Triangle Bur Floor: 2 Spiky Burs and 1 Lint Rope
  • Bur Curved Floor: 4 Spiky Burs and 2 Lint Ropes
  • Bur Curved Half Floor: 2 Spiky Burs and 1 Lint Rope

How To Build Floors

Now that you’ve unlocked the blueprints for all types of floors in the game, it’s time you learned how to use these blueprints actually to build the floors in Grounded. Following are the steps that you need to follow in order to build floors in the game.

Gather Resources

After you’ve unlocked the blueprint, go to the crafting menu and see the resources that you need in order to build the required floor in the game. Grass floors typically require low-tier resources that can be easily accessed, whereas stronger floors need rarer resources in order to be constructed. For example, grass floors require you to gather planks from grass.

Most of the time, you will need to salvage resources using your tools. Tools can also be crafted by collecting various items from the surroundings. In order to cut grass for building grass floors, you will need a Pebblet Axe, as seen below in the image.

The tool required to salvage resources might also change depending on the resource that you’re trying to salvage. So, you should have enough materials to craft the necessary tool when needed.

Placing The Blueprint

Once you have enough materials, open the build menu in the game, and that should lead you to the different blueprints that you’ve unlocked. Select the floor that you want to build from the construction menu in the game, as you can see in the image above.

After you’ve selected the required floor from the construction menu, you can then choose to place its blueprint wherever you want in the yard. It essentially gives you a preview of how your constructed piece will look after it has been established.

After you’ve placed the blueprint, the game will give you a prompt to build your piece if you have the required materials or resources. If you have the required materials, simply choose the ‘Build’ option, and the game will construct that blueprint piece instantly.
