Prince of Persia Lost Crown Best Athra Surges

After playing Prince of Persia The Lost Crown for 25 hours, here is my take on the top-tier Amulets!

Having the best Amulets in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown is just not enough, and you need to equip the top-tier Athra Surges as well to dominat the combat. There are 10 Athra Surges that you unlock after defeating various Alternate Sargon versions, and I have found five to be the best out of these ten in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.

Key Takeaways
  • There are 10 Athra Surges in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.
  • You unlock Athra Surges by defeating Alternate Sargon mini-bosses.
  • Each boss introduces a unique challenge, utilizing a specific Athra Surge that becomes available after defeating them.

BEST Athra Surges Ranked

Here is a complete list of all Athra Surges in the game showcased along with their usage and utility type.

No.Athra SurgeBest UsageUtility
5Shahbaz's SpiritAerial Enemies or BossesMassive damage, Cross-slash attack from ground/air
4Hadhayan's MightAoE PowerCrushes enemies in range, Ground-triggered
3Vayu's WaveArea ControlBlades wave, Pushes enemies away
2Bahman's BreathRegain HealthSupport skill, Health regeneration, Pushes enemies
1Soul of GilgameshOffensive & Defensive PowerBuffs damage, Attack speed, Nerfs melee damage

5. Shahbaz’s Spirit

Best Power For Aerial Enemies Or Bosses.
Shahbaz’s Spirit
  • Skill Cooldown: 25 seconds
  • Skill Type: Level 1 Skill

There are a few airborne threats in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown that need to be dealt with as soon as possible. Otherwise, these aerial enemies deal massive damage to you. This is where Shahbaz’s Spirit shows its uses. Using this Athra Surge, Sargon launches an amped-up cross-slash attack that just tears aerial enemies or bosses.

The best part of Shahbaz’s Spirit Athra attack is that you can trigger it from the ground or while in mid-air. I have found its uses against some bosses, such as Azdaha, who always remains right above you.

Why I Chose This: Aerial enemies and some bosses can easily be dealt with huge damage due to Shahbaz’s Spirit Athra Surge, and therefore, this is one of the best powers I use frequently.

4. Hadhayan’s Might

Best AoE Power.
Hadhayan’s Might
  • Skill Cooldown: 15 seconds
  • Skill Type: Level 2 Skill

Hadhyana’s Might is easily the best AoE Athra Surge power for me because it basically crushes enemies caught in the range. Whenever you trigger it, Sargon will teleport right above the enemies to crush them. The only caveat I have with this skill is that it can only be triggered whenever you’re on the ground.

This is ironic as Sargon basically teleports in the air and then lands on enemies to crush them. I would have found this Athra Surge power much more useful if it could be triggered from the air as well.

Why I Chose This: Each time Sargon lands on enemies, he can kill multiple enemies in one go, and that is why I find this to be the best AoE Athra power in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

3. Vayu’s Wave

Best Power To Push Back Enemies.
Vayu’s Wave
  • Skill Cooldown: 25 seconds
  • Skill Type: Level 1 Skill

There are moments when multiple enemies surround you at once, and more often than not, one of these is an elite type. The Vayu’s Wave Athra surge is especially effective in situations like this. Sargon launches a powerful wave of blades that not only damage enemies but also push enemies to the far end of the screen

I have found the best-case use of Vayu’s Wave Athra Surge against mini-bosses that like to rush you. Using this power deals a lot of damage and pushes the boss back, giving you enough space to plan the next attack. You will hardly need to upgrade weapons in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown when you have top-tier Athra powers like Vayu’s Wave equipped.

Why I Chose This: Enemies rush Sargon in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, and Vayu’s Wave easily pushes them away, making it my go-to spell while exploring the map.

2. Bahman’s Breath

Best Power To Regain Health.
Bahman’s Breath
  • Skill Cooldown: 15 seconds
  • Skill Type: Level 2 Skill

While most Athra Surge powers in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown are damage-focused, Bahman’s Breath is the only power that is a support skill. Sargon regains lost health whenever you trigger Bahaman’s Breath Athra Surge.

The best part of using Bahman’s Breath is that every time you trigger it, enemies are pushed back. This is especially useful in situations when you’re low in health and, at the same time, enemies push to attack you.

Forget about how to get more healing potions in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown; just pop the Bahaman’s Breath power when enemies surround you, and Sargon will push them back first, then start healing himself after.

Why I Chose This: Healing is important for survival, and Bahaman’s Breath is the only power that gives healing, making it one of the most important powers in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.

1. Soul of Gilgamesh

Best Offensive & Defensive Power
Soul of Gilgamesh
  • Skill Cooldown: 10 seconds
  • Skill Type: Level 3 Skill

Soul of Gilgamesh is easily the best offensive and defensive Athra Surge in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. Not only it buffs Sargon’s damage and attack speed but it also nerfs incoming melee damage.

Since this is a Level 3 Skill, you will need some time to build up the charge and use this skill. Nevertheless, I have found Soul of Gilgamesh extremely useful against bosses. In just one usage, you can deplete a lot of the health pool of a certain boss due to buffed damage.

Why I Chose This: The Soul of Gilgamesh is the only power that buffs Sargon’s attacks and reduces incoming attacks. This dual effect makes it the best Athra Surge in the game for me.

My Thoughts

I find Athra Surges an excellent addition to the melee-focused combat in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. Most of the powers are damage-focused, and there are only a few grant support elements. Nevertheless, if you equip any two out of these five Athra Surges, you will be hard to kill during enemy and boss encounters.

That is everything I had to discuss about Best Athra Surges in Prince of Persia Lost Crown. If you find this guide helpful, then I highly suggest you also check out Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Review
