Alleged Red Dead Redemption 2 Next-Gen Trailer Leaks Online, Divides Community

Real or not, it looks pretty convincing.

Story Highlights

  • A Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen trailer has leaked online, sparking debates about its authenticity.
  • Many players, including prominent Rockstar insider Ben, have argued that it’s just fan-made footage.
  • The next-gen port could arrive in the future, but I suggest taking the trailer with a grain of salt.

An alleged Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer for next-gen consoles has recently leaked online, sparking a lot of debate about its authenticity. It was originally uploaded on a Subreddit two days ago, before the post and the subsequent trailer were taken down. Now, the Twitter user New Era Seahawks has reposted the footage, which has made many users wonder whether it’s a real trailer or made by an ambitious fan to troll the players.

One thing worth noting is that this Twitter user appears to be the same person who initially shared the trailer on Reddit before it was taken down, as made apparent by the glowing teal Reddit name. That tidbit has made many players doubt the authenticity of the footage. However, the orchestra version of the “that’s the way it is” song used in the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer does not exist anywhere else yet, which could suggest that it’s real.

Many Have Argued That It’s A Fake, Fan-Made Trailer

There is not enough evidence to support that it’s a real Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer made by Rockstar. The orchestra song version used in the trailer might have been made specifically by the user to make it seem more legit. Additionally, Ben, a prolific Rockstar Games insider in the industry, argues that the studio does not use that style for editing, and there are many camera errors, including clipping issues, that are apparent in the footage.

I suggest taking the alleged Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen trailer with a huge grain of salt. Despite being well made, it’s more likely to be fake, as indicated by various quirks in the footage. However, even if it’s legit, we’ll learn more about the next-gen consoles port by Rockstar Games in the future.
