Story Highlights
- Ark: Survival Ascended is the reimagining of the critically acclaimed Ark: Survival Evolved from 2017.
- Developer Studio Wildcard has released a new roadmap for the game until March 2024.
- It’s been claimed that fully enabled cross-platform premium mods will debut early in 2024 too.
Coming up as the sequel to the well-renowned action-adventure survival title Ark: Survival Evolved, Survival Ascended is what Studio Wildcard calls a “remastered remake” of the previous game. It’s been out in early access since October 2023 and has had mixed reception up until now. Making efforts to improve things on that front, the developer has laid out a roadmap plan for the title that’s updated until March.

This month, players are supposed to receive the ability to seamlessly download game resources without any limiting factor. In February, expect a new dinosaur getting dropped in the foray, along with a “remastered center map” for good measure. Lastly, March sports the release of the Scorched Earth DLC, not to mention the Frontier Adventure Pack as well. Here’s the rest of the promise made by Studio Wildcard:
In early 2024, full cross-platform premium mods will also debut via our partners at Overwolf. We’re eager to share more on all of our upcoming plans for the year and we’ll see you on the Ark in 2024, survivors! Happy new year from the Wildcard team!”
Although mod support is already a thing now for those who play Survival Ascended on consoles, the dev evidently talks about “premium mods” in the update in question. These, of course, will be paid additions to the title, in case you had it otherwise. For reference, the game itself costs about $13.49 (with 10% off at the time of writing) on Steam, being in early access. When its full version is released, the pricing may be subject to change.
We’re expecting to be in Early Access until the end of 2024. Once the game is ready to leave Early Access, we’ll be reevaluating its price point based on all the available content/gameplay and make our decision at that time,” notes the FAQ section of Survival Ascended on its Steam page.

Despite its lukewarm reception, Survival Ascended somehow managed to sell over 600,000 copies still, thereby motivating the developers to keep pushing the project’s development for the time to come. However, players are more concerned about the game’s current state of affairs, especially on console, asking for graphical glitches, performance issues, and other bugs to be addressed urgently.
Ark: Survival Ascended came out on October 25, 2023, for PC. The Xbox Series X|S version landed in November, with a port to the PlayStation 5 arriving later that month. The title was first announced in October during the Xbox Partner Preview live stream.
