Ark: Survival Ascended’s Xbox Release Delayed Just In The Nick Of Time

The game will now be released later this week.

Story Highlights

  • Ark: Survival Ascended is the remake of the mega-popular Ark: Survival Evolved from 2017.
  • The game was released for PC in early access on October 25, 2023, though it wasn’t supposed to.
  • For Xbox consoles, the survival title will now be released later this week after a slight delay.

Tracing its initial announcement back to March 2023, Ark: Survival Ascended is the next step in line for the Ark franchise, coming across as a remake of the 2017-released Ark: Survival Evolved. The game was initially planned to be released for consoles on November 14, but those plans were switched up with something else, and now, the game will make landfall later this week at an unspecified date, confirms devs.

It’s worth noting that Ark: Survival Ascended couldn’t follow the initial release plan that the developers — Studio Wildcard and Grove Street Games — laid out for it before as well. What went down was that the game found itself shown off to the masses with a fresh new gameplay trailer on October 25, 2023, during the Xbox Partner Preview program. Later that day, Ark’s Lead Designer Craig Brown broke the news of the game heading to Steam.

By that time, it was understood that Ark: Survival Ascended would launch on consoles a bit later on as compared to its Steam variant. Then, earlier in November, a community post on the official Ark forum made it clear that the Xbox Series X|S version would be released on November 14, but, of course, that is now long gone, and the title still isn’t here for the Xbox consoles.

If you’re wondering what’s going on with the PlayStation version of Ark: Survival Ascended, the devs stated in the aforementioned blog post that they’re working things out with Sony at the moment, but fans can expect the remake to arrive on the PlayStation 5 by “the end of November.” No update has been provided on that front as of yet; only the Xbox Series X|S versions were hit with a delay—a slight one at that.

We’re hoping to have a more precise date to share with you soon as we’re currently finalizing this with Sony, but it is slated for the end of November. We know this isn’t ideal, but we’re optimistic we’ll be able to share a date very soon!”

Ark: Survival Evolved’s Steam page shows a mixed rating at the time of writing, with many highlighting the bug-ridden state of the game. If you’re wondering what’ll happen to Ark: Survival Evolved, it won’t stop receiving support from the side of the devs, but official servers will get shut down sometime in the future.
