- Assassin’s Creed Mirage may not be released on Steam.
- Ubisoft lists all the platforms that Mirage will be available for, and Steam is not one of them.
- Mirage will release this year on October 12th.
It seems like Assassin’s Creed Mirage may not be released on Steam, according to an official list of platforms the game will release on. This is despite Ubisoft releasing more games on Steam, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. According to Ubisoft, Mirage will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Ubisoft Connect, Amazon Luna, and the Epic Games Store, with no mention of Steam.
This is an odd move from Ubisoft. Recently many publishers have decided to move their games back to steam, after experimenting with their own services. EA recently released its games on Steam, as well as its subscription services. Activision also brought the entire Call of Duty franchise to the platform as well.
This may be due to a partnership that was signed between Epic Games and Ubisoft. Ubisoft games were mostly exclusive to the Epic Games Store up until last year, however, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was unveiled before Ubisoft games made their way back to Steam, so it is possible that Mirage may be bound to some type of deal.
Ubisoft has not specified if the game will come to Steam in the future. In the past, Ubisoft was reportedly disappointed with Steam’s 30% cut of all revenue, with company executives calling Steam’s business model “unrealistic”. Ubisoft games that release on Steam tend to come out well after release when these games are usually discounted or on sale.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will launch this year on October 12th. The next entry in the series will be set in Baghdad and will be a return to the game’s roots, leaving behind the massive open-world experiences found in Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins.
