Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone Is a Mix Between Escape From Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown

A prominent dataminer has given it away

Battlefield 2042 is set for launch two months from now, but most of the much-touted features of the game have already been leaked ahead of time. This includes the “love letter to the series’ fans” – Battlefield Portal and cross-platform multiplayer.

The latest addition to the line-up of the leaks comes from a renowned Battlefield insider who goes by the username of Temporyal. He has cast a lens on the third, and yet-to-be-detailed game mode of Battlefield 2042 called Hazard Zone. According to him, it’s possible that this play mode is set to take heavy inspiration from Hunt: Showdown and Escape From Tarkov, both of which feature bounty hunting elements and extraction-driven gameplay.

To put it into simpler terms, you have to get from one point to another across the map while collecting intel or loot. All gathered items would then carry on with you till the end of the match where you’ll be able to store them. If you happen to die in the next match, you would lose your loot permanently. This is how Hazard Zone is going to be for Battlefield 2042. Are we stoked? Absolutely.

Temporyal says, “Hazard Zone seems to be indeed a mix between Escape from Tarkov & Hunt Showdown. The Orbital map in Battlefield 2042 has built-in support for this game mode. Other known locations can’t be verified without additional data. No sign of a Hazard Zone exclusive map available.”

It’s rumored that Hazard Zone isn’t going to exclusive maps for its own, but rather a variant of the original Battlefield 2042 maps to suit them to this high-velocity game mode. On the official website of the game, it’s said about Hazard Zone that it’s an “all-new, high-stakes multiplayer experience” and that it’ll be fully revealed later this year. We’re sure as heck looking forward to more on this now that we can expect something from the credible dataminer.

However, best take this rumor with a pinch of salt as things don’t take much to go sideways. That said, Battlefield 2042 is bringing all the heat this year, and up until now, we truly love what it’s going to offer to the fan base.
