We’ve already known that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has turned out to be one of the biggest video game releases this year, but now, its status has just reached new heights. On top of being the franchise’s biggest launch, Black Ops 6 has clocked the highest number of players, hours, and matches played as opposed to any other installment in the franchise.
It bears mentioning that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 also landed on Xbox Game Pass the day it was released in October 2024. It’s assumed that a substantial majority of the shooter’s players were able to access it for free, therefore, and Game Pass is to thank partly for Black Ops 6’s overwhelming reception in numbers.
On a side note, players may also enjoy an XP boost event starting Wednesday, as Treyarch announced recently in a new update.
The Call Of Duty Fanbase Shows Mixed Reception (As Always)
Although Black Ops 6 has been received mostly well, things don’t look too good over at the r/blackops6 subreddit. Fans have been nitpicking a lot of the tiny details, such as the Operator skins not being up to scratch and the Winner’s Circle attributing itself to a cringe-fest.
As for the rest of us who have been picking up Call of Duty games every now and then, I think it goes without saying that Black Ops 6 is the most fun multiplayer shooter I’ve played in years, with a campaign system that does not leave a lot to be desired. Sure, some critiques, including the maps being a tad low in quality, stand true, but the pros outweigh the cons substantially at the end of the day.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released on October 25, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Review aggregator Metacritic hands the title a Metascore of 83.
