Counter-Strike 2 Fans Disappointed With Missing Features As Original Game Is Replaced

It appears that Valve has a lot of work to do to retain the game's glory.

Story Highlights

  • The new Counter-Strike 2 has launched to critical acclaim but also received its fair share of criticism from the community. It is lacking several key features and game modes.
  • The game is plagued with server capacity issues, performance issues, and cheaters that have not yet been tackled.
  • Some technical features are also missing, like the inability to play with the gun on the left side. It has made it difficult for players to adapt.

The popular CS franchise has gone through a huge metamorphosis and evolved into Counter-Strike 2. It has come with a huge cost, however, causing many of the game’s key features to fully vanish from existence. The original CS: GO was known for featuring many modes, which are nowhere to be seen in the new release. Count that with the influx of bugs, a few players are quite unhappy with the seemingly dull launch.

The Reddit user u/cosmictrigger01 has compiled a sum of the missing features and modes on the r/GlobalOffensive subreddit. Since the original CS: GO is nearly completely unplayable, the players have lost access to these pivotal features and playlists filled with swaths of fun to be had. It has left the community with deep disappointment and a tint of nostalgia as it gets used to the overhauled Counter-Strike 2.

This is really disappointing

Some of the absent modes include workshop maps, competitive and Wingman maps, and notable game modes like Danger Zone, Flying Scoutsman, and Arms Race. Moreover, the new Counter-Strike 2 is filled with chunks of bugs that have caused further disarray among the players. The other issues include a lack of new content after release, performance issues, and shoddy servers for some global players despite raised tick rates, to name a few.

The complaints haven’t changed for a good few months now while the game was in beta, and valve still haven’t said a single f**king thing – why the silent treatment? At least let us know you’re working on it,” said one Reddit user.

There was a lot of hype in the community for the last two weeks —the server capacity was filled soon after global release—but players have seen a lack of game modes instead of the presumed new content after Counter-Strike 2 came out. The unsuspecting players have started flooding the forums with concerns regarding the lost features, with most raising voices against the lack of transparency from the devs.

Many technical features are also not available anymore, such as the lack of ability to play with the gun on the left side. Players used to it for over a decade are now struggling to adapt to the new system. Unfortunately, Counter-Strike 2 is also riddled with cheaters because of a lack of a good anti-cheat. Many users have reported encounters with multiple exploiters in matches.

The devs are likely going to smoothen out the sharp edges as Counter-Strike 2 flourishes in the upgraded Valve Source 2 engine. We could even see the return of the missing game modes and central features, but it has not been officially confirmed thus far. Despite the criticism, the new entry has been quite well received by both the veteran and new players.
