The update also addresses several issues with Crucible, Vanguard Ops, and Endgame content.

Story Highlights

  • Update 7.0.5 for Destiny 2 is live. The highlights of the update are weapon adjustments which include substantial buffs for five weapon archetypes.
  • The patch also adds a new commendation focusing on the fashion sense of fellow Guardians.
  • Several issues present in the Root of Nightmares and other PvE content were addressed in Destiny 2’s Update 7.0.5.

Destiny 2’s mid-season update has arrived, bringing along substantial buffs for five Primary Weapon archetypes in PvE content.  According to the patch notes, each archetype has received a specific percentage-based increase in damage against red and orange-bar enemies. Auto Rifles gained a 25% boost, Scout Rifles received a 10% increase while Pulse Rifles, Hand Cannons, and Sidearms got a 20% boost to damage dealt.

In addition, Destiny 2‘s latest update implements a wide range of adjustments in the Crucible and Vanguard Ops content modes. For Crucible PvP, a new 6v6 connection-based matchmaking Weekly Rotator was added. This will include Clash, Zone Control, and Rift. The existing 6v6 Party Rotator will now be Mayhem, Momentum Control, and Scorched. Tutorial crucible quests were updated to reflect changes to available playlists.

Furthermore, a metric showing off the Competitive Division rank was added to the game. The strength of the respawn overshield in Crucible was increased as well. The patch also fixed errant Glorious and Dredgen awarding/gilding. All players must now reclaim/regild their titles if they have completed the requisite Triumphs.

Moving to Vanguard Ops, Legend difficulty Defiant Battlegrounds will now rotate their weapon overcharge on a weekly basis. Along with that, downing a Tormentor will now provide revive tokens like Champions and Hive Guardians in some activities. The difficulty for Heist Battlegrounds present in Vanguard and Nightfall playlists has been tuned along with several bugs being ironed out for improved stability.

Patch 7.0.5 for Destiny 2 also addresses some issues with the game’s dungeons and raids. In Duality, Nightmare of Gahlran will no longer be unable to teleport back to the encounter space after falling out of the environment. Several issues in Root of Nightmares such as the Scission encounter soft lock, Nezarec not casting a wipe when intended, and screen VFX not playing when players fail the encounter were rectified.

General Adjustments In Destiny 2 Update 7.0.5

Specific exotic weapons have received some adjustments as part of Destiny 2’s latest patch. Final Warning can no longer mark targets through Titan Barricades. Tarrabah will now have reduced Zoom and Ravenous Beast energy generation when taking damage. Revision Zero’s “Fourth Times the Charm” will now be reset when entering Hunter’s Trace.

This is to prevent the issue of firing a single shot while in Hunter’s Trace and being forcibly returned to pulse mode when Fourth Times the Charm activates. In addition, PvE damage of Hunter’s Trace rounds and Hakke Heavy Burst rounds was increased by 25% and 75% respectively. Also, an issue in which the enhanced version of the Wellspring perk generated too little energy when the player had any number of charged abilities was fixed.

Some adjustments were made to abilities as well. Rally Barricade’s area of effect now extends slightly further behind and above the barrier. This makes it easier to remain in the range of the buff, especially on uneven terrain. Issues with Jolt chain lightning and throwing rapidly while carrying a Tangle were addressed as well.

A new commendation was added to Destiny 2 in the latest update. Titled “Best Dressed,” the commendation serves the purpose of praising the fashion of fellow Guardians. Furthermore, Veteran players will now receive the correct amount of lore books when they reach Guardian Rank 7 for the first time. A few issues pertaining to other Guardian Ranks were also rectified.

Bungie released the latest expansion for Destiny 2, Lightfall, earlier this year. While it was met with negative reception for a multitude of reasons, the expansion still offers a lot of amazing content to experience. You can check it out for yourself on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and last-gen consoles.
