Bungie

Bungie Inc. is an American video game developer based in Bellevue, Washington. Although Bungie had a humble beginning, now it erects itself among the giants of the gaming industry with a portfolio of prominent titles under its belt. The legacy of Bungie was initiated when a duo of friends shook hands together to forge the path of game development. The company was founded in May 1991 by Alex Seropian, who later brought in programmer Jason Jones along in this journey.

The company focused mainly on Macintosh games during its premature era of Bungie. However, the heydays of Bungie kicked off when Microsoft acquired the studio in 2000. Bungie’s project in the works was reprocessed into the central launch title for Microsoft’s then-new Xbox console, dubbed Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo went on to become the face and identity of Xbox and was dubbed Xbox’s “killer application”.

The title sold millions of copies and garnered itself into a billion-dollar franchise. The title rocketed Xbox console and Bungie’s name to the moon, accumulating worldwide fame. Microsoft and Bungie parted ways on October 5, 2007, and became a privately held independent studio. Whilst Microsoft retained the ownership of the Halo franchise’s IP. Nevertheless, Bungie has crafted alluring titles over the decennia. The destiny series is also a highly acclaimed success.
