Reddick portrayed the Titan Vanguard Commander Zavala in both of the Destiny games. He voiced and provided motion capture for one of the most important characters in the game’s history. Commander Zavala has been a perpetual presence in the Tower, one of the main social hubs in Destiny games. Therefore, seasoned players saw him on a regular basis.

Zavala has been a consistent fixture in the Destiny franchise since the first game and is one of the story’s most important characters. He is the commander of The Last City and works to safeguard humanity against all threats. Reddick’s character is an uncompromising leader of the Guardian military and led them to victory in both the Taken and Red Wars. Hence, it’s easy to understand why fans are honoring the actor who portrayed such a principal character in the Destiny series.

Lance Reddick was also a big fan of the Destiny games and a favorite among the players and interacted with them on Twitter. A Polygon interview with Destiny 2’s director told us how he didn’t kill Zavala because they loved having Reddick around. The actor had a vast portfolio not only in movies but also in gaming. Lance Reddick portrayed Sylens in the PlayStation exclusives Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. He will make a posthumous appearance in the latter’s upcoming Burning Shores expansion in April 2023. In addition, the actor was in Payday 2 as his character Charon from the John Wick movies in a DLC collaboration. Due to such a wide range of roles in the industry, Lance Reddick will forever have a place in gaming pop culture. Several Bungie employees posted about the brilliant performer’s death, expressing their sadness.

His ties to gaming don’t end here, as Reddick also played Albert Wesker in the Netflix Resident Evil show last year.
