Forspoken Currently Ranking High On Amazon’s Best-Seller Charts

In the gaming world, competition is always tough across the charts of retailers like Amazon. 2023 is going to be no exception to this rule, with a myriad of anticipated AAA games coming out. Among the major AAA games that will be releasing in January of this year, Square Enix’s Forspoken is arguably the most divisive one.

Since its reveal last year, the game has divided both critics and fans due to its dialogue and world-building. The recent demo of Forspoken also didn’t receive universal acclaim and received mixed reviews from the players.

However, it seems like the RPG isn’t getting bogged down by the criticism as it is soaring in the Best-selling PlayStation 5 games charts on Amazon.

NextGenPlayer on Twitter first reported this info to the masses. Amazon’s best-seller charts paint a pretty accurate picture of the industry they are relating to. In this case, they corroborate the hype surrounding some of the upcoming video games this year.

Forspoken is No.2 on the best-seller chart of PlayStation 5 games on Amazon US, beating out some competition to do so. The RPG is above some exciting upcoming releases like the Dead Space remake, which is at No.3. Hence, the hype for the game is pretty competent when you consider the reception it has. 

It is also above a popular 2022 game, Sonic Frontiers, which is at No.4 in the charts. Forspoken‘s performance gets even more impressive as we move down in the Amazon charts. Hogwarts Legacy‘s standard version is at No.6 and No.7, meaning the Square Enix title is at least beating the title in some way. 

On No.9 in the charts is the Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy XVI, another major AAA title coming out this year. Forspoken is also above the 2022 Game of the Year, Elden Ring, in the Amazon best-sellers charts. So, the game is performing pretty well and soaring up the rankings even with the bad press around it. 

Hogwarts Legacy: Deluxe Edition is the only game above Forspoken in the Amazon PlayStation 5 charts. No other title is currently out-selling the fantasy game except the Wizarding World game. When you consider the out-of-this-world hype the Harry Potter franchise title has, it isn’t a bad result. 

Even with all of the controversy around it, Hogwarts Legacy is still racking up sales numbers. It previously topped the Steam pre-order charts, too, showcasing the power of the Harry Potter franchise. Hence, Forspoken being below it isn’t a failure at all. 

The upcoming Square Enix title has actually done pretty well in the circumstances. Getting blocked by Hogwarts Legacy is like a Taylor Swift song blocking you from No.1 on the Billboard charts. Therefore, Forspoken is putting up strong numbers and might just be a hit despite poor reception. 

Its performance in Japan is also indicative of how the game is doing pretty well, sales-wise. On the Japanese Amazon charts, Forspoken is currently No.1 in the PlayStation 5 best-seller charts. Hence, the game is set for a big opening in its home base in a few days. 

Even more surprisingly, the game is above Final Fantasy XVI in the charts. If you know anything about how popular Final Fantasy is in Japan, you will be aware of how big this milestone is. Hogwarts Legacy is also behind Forspoken in Japan, which is another win for the Square Enix IP. 

The standard and deluxe editions of the WB game are No.3 and No.4, respectively. Forspoken is also above another highly anticipated upcoming game, the Resident Evil 4 remake. In the PlayStation 5 charts, the Capcom game is No.5 and completes the top 5.

So, it seems like even with the bad reviews from fans, Forspoken is selling like hotcakes in the biggest markets. Obviously, only time will tell how much it actually sells upon its release. But the signs are looking pretty good.
