Fortnite To Get FPS Mode According To Datamine

Datamined files from the recent Fortnite 23.30 update seem to suggest so.

Story Highlights

  • Update 23.30 has arrived for Fortnite.
  • Datamine of the update files suggests that an FPS mode may be arriving in the future.
  • Many UI changes were also found from datamined files, including other changes such as the ability to reload while aiming.

Fortnite has come a long way since its inception. What started as a tower defense game and a battle-royale soon came under the limelight for the latter mode and has become quite a cultural phenomenon. Much of its appeal is owed to the gameplay, a hybrid of offensive and defensive play.

A mainstay has been the third-person perspective which is found in many other battle-royale games as well but this may soon change in the future. According to a Fortnite data miner, files in the recent Fortnite 23.30 update indicate that a first-person mode may be coming soon in the immediate future.

This finding comes courtesy of @archer_fortnite on Twitter, who has been datamining the update for any news or surprises concerning the changes in Fortnite after the recent update.

This finding was further corroborated by prominent Fortnite leaker @ShiinaBR on Twitter:

Moreover, many Fortnite content creators and players have been showcasing videos of them using the said mode in real matches.

Apparently, this is done by utilizing a bug in Fortnite: Save the World mode of the game wherein first-person mode can be enabled.

People have since been uploading videos of trying the FPS mode themselves and on different weapons to see if there are any differences or variations between weapons. It should be noted that while the mode is accessible currently, there is no guarantee that the bug will be patched in a later update or not.

@ShiinaBR seems to suggest that the mode will officially arrive later this year, so it may be safe to assume that players will have to wait for some time, but this certainly is very exciting news as it brings a whole new perspective to the game.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with Dragon Ball returns, bringing back the Nimbus Cloud and the Kamehameha attack. This time around, the characters featured are Song Gohan and Piccolo as they appear in Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO.

Fortnite is a giant of a product that generates massive amounts of revenue, which is the reason it can keep on doing these lucrative and amazing collaborations with all sorts of media.

The gameplay is not the only appeal Fortnite has. Its cartoony visuals make it especially attractive for the younger audience and players, and a great number of Fortnite players really are quite young.

Its dancing emotes have also catapulted it to stardom, and cultural phenomenon status, with the, emotes being the subject of popular memes and often being recreated.

The collaboration with Dragon Ball is only one of the countless Fortnite has done throughout its existence. Few games can lay claim to being the host of such spectacle and visual splendor, but Fortnite can easily boast of it actually being a regular happening.
