Story Highlights
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a Borderlands spin-off that came out in March 2022, for multiple platforms.

- Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford has affirmed a positive future of the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands IP.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands made landfall in March 2022 and didn’t take much time to shoot its way to success soon after. A couple of months following its release, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that the game had “shattered all target expectations” and now, Randy has spoken about the future of the franchise, two years into the looter-shooter’s release.
Talking to Games Radar at the San Diego Comic-Con, the Gearbox frontman reaffirmed his faith in the franchise, confirming first and foremost that it’s “reasonable” for fans to look forward to additional Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands iterations. Note that this is not confirmation of a Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 or anything of the sort still.
Here’s the full quote:
What we demonstrated with the first Wonderlands game was that there’s something there. It was wildly successful and exceeded our expectations. We had a bigger result with the first Wonderlands game than we did with the first Borderlands game, so that’s something we can build on. I think it’s reasonable for our fans to expect more there.”
What About The Mainline Borderlands Franchise?
With all that being said and done, Randy also has news for fans of the mainline Borderlands franchise, asking fans to expect an official announcement “sooner rather than later.”
I’m confident that our fans are going to be very, very happy with the next video game project when we are ready to announce it. And I will tell you that we’re not going to be making people wait for a long time before we announce it,” says Randy.
It bears mentioning that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a sequel to Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep, which itself is DLC for Borderlands 2. As per Randy, the studio had been meaning to work on a Borderlands spin-off for as far back as 2010, but all previous pitches got shot down by different publishers during the humble beginnings of Gearbox.
eXputer reviewed Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and rated it 4/5, praising its terrific humor and references to Borderlands, great visuals, and remarkable voice acting while criticizing the repetitive combat loop of the shooter.
