Forza Horizon 5 Has Now Surpassed 32 Million Players Since Launch

According to the game's Hall of Fame leaderboard, 32,352,266 players have played the game now.

Story Highlights

  • Over 32 million players have now played Forza Horizon 5 since its launch, as per the game’s Hall of Fame leaderboard.
  • The game has gained another two million players after previously surpassing the 30 million landmark back in May.
  • The Playground Games title has reached this new landmark just 21 months after first launching in November 2021.

Almost two years after its initial release, Forza Horizon 5 has now accumulated over 32 million players worldwide. As noted by Twitter user Stallion83 on the game’s Hall of Fame Leaderboard, the racing title has amassed 32,352,266 users across the globe, a huge two million jump from its previously reported player figure. Hence, the Playground Games title has been a massive hit across all fronts for Xbox.

Considering its massive launch week, such lasting success isn’t really a big surprise for Forza Horizon 5. When it came out way back in November 2021, the racing game had the biggest launch for any Xbox Games Studio title in history, reaching 10 million players in just its launch week alone. Furthermore, it absolutely smashed the player count of its predecessor, Forza Horizon 4, putting up numbers three times bigger.

Since its release, Playground Games has extensively supported Forza Horizon 5 with patches and expansions. The Hot Wheels expansion, which was a collaboration with the titular toy brand, came out in the July of last year with the off-road vehicle-themed Rally Adventure expansion dropping in March 2023. Besides new cars, these DLCs have added a lot of other stuff including maps, trophies, and even a new career mode.

Due to this continuous stream of content, Forza Horizon 5’s users have increased consistently over the past two years. It reached 15 million players just two months after its release in January 2022 and achieved the 20 million player landmark in June 2022, eight months after its initial launch. The racing game’s latest player count put it at 30 million users in May 2023, meaning it has gained another two million players in roughly three months.

Besides these achievements, Forza Horizon 5 also received universal praise from critics and fans alike. The Playground Games title won IGN’s Game of the Year award, which is pretty uncommon for a racing title especially when you factor in the competition it faced from critical darlings like It Takes Two and Resident Evil Village. Furthermore, the racing game also took home three Game Awards, a joint-high for the 2021 ceremony.

Hence, Forza Horizon 5 has been an overwhelming success for Xbox both commercially and critically. With a few months still remaining before Forza Motorsport launches in October 2023, it is bound to attract even more players through the Xbox Game Pass and could do even better if Playground Games releases another big update. If you want to try out the game yourself, you can do so on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
