Immortals Fenyx Rising Is Headed to Steam

Following the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Steam, Ubisoft’s other fantasy open world is also headed to the platform. That other fantasy open-world being Immortals Fenyx Rising.

The game has just received a store page on steam with a “Coming Soon” given as the only thing for the release date. 

Assassins Creed Valhalla also came to steam a few days ago and is currently available at a significantly discounted price for all players. However, Ubisoft has faced backlash for not implementing Steam achievements in Assassins Creed Valhalla. 

Ubisoft, responding to the backlash has officially stated that there are no plans to implement Steam achievements in the game.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is an open-world game heavily inspired by the likes of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild. The game is set in a colorful mythological Greek fantasy setting where players take the role of Fenyx to free the various Greek Gods from a new threat called “Typhon”. 

Unlike other Ubisoft open worlds like Watch Dogs Legion and Assassins Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising places a lot of emphasis on “gamifying” the open world itself. As in, making the open world itself a part of the gameplay experience.

Taking a similar approach to Breath of The Wild where exploration is given the same if not more emphasis than the combat and story. While the former excels in exploration, Immortals places a greater emphasis on its combat and boss fights with an arguably much more exciting and active combat system. 

Immortals Fenyx Rising was released in December 2020 for consoles and the Epic Game Store. The game received largely positive reviews from critics who cited it as a breath of fresh air from Ubisoft after multiple formulaic releases.  

The game received particular praise for its charming, often funny writing, colorful characters, and satisfying, active combat as well as its enjoyable exploration and breathtaking world. Currently, a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is also in the works. The game is reportedly expected to be more like a spin-off with a drastic change in visual aesthetic

Immortals Fenyx Rising is currently available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One/X, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and the Epic Games Store.
