KOTOR Remake Is Still In Development At Saber Interactive, Leaks Insider

Whether it ever comes out or not is an entirely different issue.

Story Highlights

  • KOTOR Remake is reportedly still in the brewer at Saber Interactive, as rumored by a credible insider.
  • Jason Schreier responded to another rumor and confirmed that the devs at the studio are working on the game.
  • It is unclear whether it will ever come out. Embracer Group CEO has declined to comment on multiple occasions.

Star Wars: KOTOR Remake was recently rumored to have been fully killed. However, a credible insider has come forward with new information that suggests the game is still in the brewer. Jason Schreier recently took to a ResetEra thread to address a rumor and confirmed that Saber Interactive is still developing the title.

‘Is it alive?’ and ‘Will it ever actually come out?’ are two very different questions. A third is ‘If it does ever come out, what will it actually look like?’ That said, I’ve talked to two people at Saber who both say they’re still currently working on it, so I don’t believe that the comment that it isn’t being worked on ‘in any way’ right now is true,” said Jason in the thread.

Jason confirms that KOTOR Remake is still alive, as per his sources. However, it does not mean that it will actually see the light of day. It is still reassuring to hear that the project is being worked on despite all the odds stacked against it.

The insider recently addressed the rumor that Jeff Grubb shared through his sources. He claimed on the latest Game Mess Mornings episode that KOTOR Remake was no longer in development by anyone. Jeff also shared that Sony has finally pulled the plug on the project.

I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now. Just full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way, at any studio. I don’t think this is news to most of you. Sony stepping away, and scrubbing mentions of Knights of the Old Republic from social media and YouTube – you can put two and two together there,” said Jeff Grubb.

The Embracer Group CEO has refused to comment on the state of KOTOR Remake on many occasions, recently commenting, “I notice that anything I say to this becomes a headline, so that is my only comment.” The title has barely been stated to be in production in one of the earnings reports earlier this year, but there was no other substantial info. We suggest taking the rumors with a huge grain of salt until the project is officially addressed.
