That is an outstanding feat in itself, considering the widely popular IPs that the publisher has at its disposal. It has beaten games from franchises like Street Fighter and Resident Evil to take this position on the CAPCOM charts. 

Sales of Monster Hunter: World are no surprise for anyone who has played the game. It’s a brilliant game with a breathtaking open world for the players to explore. Coupling this with the series’ exceptional gameplay and a great narrative, the game’s critical acclaim and sales make total sense.

Other games in the CAPCOM list include some very heavy hitters besides Monster Hunter: World from the company. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is second on this all-time Platinum sales list with 10.8 million copies sold so far. The Monster Hunter and Resident Evil franchises make up most of this top 10 list. Street Fighter II and Street Fighter V take up the #8 and #9 spot on the list. The very recent release in the franchise, Resident Evil Village, finished up this list.
