Arcade Version Of Street Fighter 6 Is In The Works At Taito

The revolutionary developer of Space Invaders is making the arcade version of Capcom's new release.

Nowadays, gaming has a wide variety of platforms and fans can play games wherever they like. However, this was not the case before and the medium really started from only one platform: Arcades. Fighting games in these arcades shaped the current era of developers, and probably the most important among them was Steet Fighter.

You will be happy to know that the series which shaped fighting games, is returning to its roots with Street Fighter 6. Capcom has announced that an arcade version of the game is also in development. And, it will release alongside the main game in 2023, so we don’t have to wait long.

Major Takeaways

  • Street Fighter 6 will get an arcade version from Taito.
  • It will release in 2023 and is currently in development.
  • Street Fighter 6 Type Arcade is the name of this arcade version and no set release date is official.

Taito is developing this arcade version of Street Fighter 6 with Capcom. It is one of the most influential gaming companies of all time and produced some legendary arcade games. During the early days of gaming, Taito set the standard for what gaming should be and its effect is unmatched.

Street Fighter 6 Type Arcade is the name of this arcade version of the most recent entry in the franchise. Capcom and Taito announced this collaboration on Taito’s official page labeling it an arcade version development decision. Famitsu was the first to report this collaboration between these two giants of Japanese gaming on their website.

It’s also good to see Street Fighter 6 going back to arcade releases as a necessity and not an afterthought. Street Fighter V also had an arcade version but it took 2 years to come out worldwide and 3 years in Japan. Hence, releasing the arcade version alongside the consoles and PCs is a step in the right direction.

Taito will be handling sales and development with Capcom closely with them. But if there is one company in the industry that knows what they are doing with Street Fighter 6, it’s Taito. For almost five decades, the Japanese company has made the best arcade games in the world.

It was a pioneer of gaming in the very early days and some of its games have all-timer status. Probably Taito’s most popular invention was Space Invaders, the shoot ’em-up arcade game from 1978. Everyone who has ever played video games has heard of this title and it’s easy to see why.

Space invaders was the catalyst for the golden age of arcade gaming and inspired almost everyone who works in gaming. It’s one of the highest-grossing and best-selling video games of all time with a net profit of $2 billion. Hence, it’s safe to say the company which made one of the greatest pop culture icons of all time will do Street Fighter justice.

Street Fighter 6 release on June 2, 2023, as announced at The Game Awards. It will release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and arcade. No set release date is official as of now for the arcade version, but we hope it’s close to the main release.
