Story Highlights
- Mortal Kombat 1 has welcomed yet another character of its Kombat Pack DLC—the Peacemaker.
- Alongside the reveal of the new character, a free play weekend for the game is coming in March.
- Crossplay for the title also appears to be arriving next for Mortal Kombat 1 in a new patch.
Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the biggest names in the fighting game realm this generation, with the title continuing the practice of its previous iterations in borrowing playable characters from other franchises. In recent times, NetherRealm Studios has finally unveiled DC’s Peacemaker, with iconic WWE wrestler and actor John Cena reprising his role for the game, lending his body and voice for an accurate portrayal.
Peacemaker, quite fittingly, is looking goofy with his move sets, especially considering how he announces his moves prior to performing this, which is primarily due to the voice activation system of his helmet. The humor seems to be on point as well, and as we got to see the big man making his entry in Mortal Kombat 1, the devs decided to pair him with an alternate version of Johnny Cage—Janet Cage.
Elsewhere, the official Mortal Kombat 1 X (formerly Twitter) has come forth with an exciting announcement for the community. Evidently, crossplay is headed to the game in a new update which is scheduled to arrive next week. Cross-platform play will work across the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions of the title.
With peace, comes Krossplay. The feature will be included in next week’s patch and supported between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). More details coming early next week,” reads the post on X.
And lastly, Mortal Kombat 1 will be free-to-play between March 7-10, as observed at the end of the Peacemaker reveal trailer. If you’re still waiting to purchase the game, now looks to be the perfect opportunity to try out the title’s fundamentals first-hand.
The latest iteration in the long-running Mortal Kombat 1 franchise came out on September 19, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. eXputer rated the title 4.5/5.0 in its review, with author Asad Ahmed calling it “a triumphant return to form for the franchise.” Here’s our specialized Mortal Kombat 1 tier list that ranks all fighters based on combo chain execution ease and damage potential.
