A Nintendo eShop Glitch Prices NBA 2K24 Black Mamba Edition At $1

That's a whopping 99% off.

Story Highlights

  • For a limited time, players could snatch the NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition for only $1, which is $99 less than the original price.
  • This was thanks to a Nintendo eShop listing glitch where changing your location to Peru gave you a massive discount.
  • Although the glitch has since been patched, many fans were able to get their copies as NBA 2K24 was the third best-seller in Nintendo eShop’s charts for Peru.
  • A similar thing once happened with FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition, which was available for $0.06 for a limited time in India. At one point, Sifu could also be purchased for $0.25 in the Argentina eShop. Players were allowed to keep their copies in both instances, so the same can happen here.

The NBA 2K24 Black Mamba edition, equivalent to a deluxe edition, was available on Nintendo eShop for just $1. This 99% price drop was only available for the Peru region on the online shop, so players changed their account location to the country to get their copy. It is unclear what caused this price drop, as it doesn’t seem intentional, but the damage has already been done.

NBA 2K games are notorious for being really expensive at launch, so many people wait for a sale to treat themselves to the game. However, it seems like the sale came earlier than expected, as the $99.99 Black Mamba edition was sold for dirt cheap. All players had to do was go to their account settings and temporarily change their location to Peru to snatch the copy.

This blunder could be from the Nintendo eShop’s side or simply a glitch that went unchecked. In either case, it has been patched, but it took them a while to realize their mistake. The damage could have been mitigated if fixed early on, but gamers had more than enough time in the past few days. So much so that NBA 2K24 became the third best-seller on Nintendo eShop’s charts for Peru.

This was a record for the franchise on Switch, but we don’t think the developers or publishers will be celebrating that achievement. Some fans are still wondering whether players will be allowed to keep their copies or not, and they most likely will. There have been similar cases in the past, and players got to keep their copies in all those times.

FIFA Ultimate Edition was once available for only $0.06 in India for a limited time. At one point, the popular fighting game Sifu cost only $0.25 in the Argentina eShop. Since it is almost always the fault of publishers, developers or the platforms in these situations, players cannot be held accountable for anything.
