Let’s be clear with one thing: fans of the Marvel comic universe have not been quenched of their thirst for a jaw-dropping fighting game. The latest effort is somewhat of a repetitive and unsatisfying affair that suffers from several quality of life issues.
However, we’re not here to discuss Marvel’s Avengers, but an entirely new direction that trustworthy insider Daniel Richtman has led us in. This was first reported by StealthOptional.
According to Richtman’s Patreon post, we now have reason to believe that the highly renowned developer of Mortal Kombat and Injustice has a new Marvel brawler in the works, and production is already underway.
NetherRealm Studios is praised for its top-notch work on a fighting game that has DC fans all mustered up. Injustice 2 holds a dark storyline and pits iconic deities such as Superman against favorite superheroes from the franchise. The gameplay is sleek, and the end product is outright marvelous.
Additionally, the same goes for Mortal Kombat. The studio has put together the latest iteration in the series—Mortal Kombat XI—exceedingly well, making it possible to enjoy guts, gore, and brutal combat in a charming fashion.
If the same studio is ought to work on a game set in the Marvel universe, the results simply cannot disappoint. For now, further details cannot be uncovered, so do take this rumor with a grain of salt. NetherRealm Studios is purchased by Warner Bros. and the industry giant also happens to own DC.
Therefore, the possibility isn’t out of the question, and if NetherRealm Studios are indeed working on a next-gen Marvel fighting game, fans are in for a treat like no other.
