Obisidian Entertainment Has an Unannounced Open-World Project in the Works

The game is expected to be built upon Unreal Engine

Obsidian Entertainment is a well-established game studio and is one of the many acquisitions of Microsoft. The developer is behind the work of Fallout: New Vegas and a handful of other IPs that seemingly struck success, such as The Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity. Bethesda Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment are both under the same roof now, and this does lead to potential future projects of the two.

Quite recently, Obsidian has uploaded a job posting on their official website. The vacancy is for an experienced and proficient Technical Artist who must have “a solid understanding of the current concerns, performance monitoring tools and pipelines for open-world development in Unreal 4 on PCs and Consoles.”

Obsidian’s latest project to come out is The Outer Worlds, featuring fanatical RPG gameplay and a single-player campaign. The IP has won a bevy of awards and enjoys a solid reputation on Steam.

It could be something planned entirely for next-gen consoles, as the job description strongly emphasizes the understanding of Unreal Engine which is a powerful suite of game development tools commonly used by studios across the spectrum. Some people are regarding this unannounced project as Fallout: New Vegas 2, but we can neither confirm nor deny the possibility of that happening.
