Red Dead Online Has More Concurrent Players Than Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042's player-base continues to decline with time, as Red Dead Online exceeds in the number of concurrent players on Steam.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was a stellar success by Rockstar Games. Arthur Morgan’s character development touched the hearts of every player. Red Dead Online was also quite the hit but it has not been free of criticisms and shortcomings. The multiplayer experience, nevertheless, has been enjoyable. On the other hand, Battlefield 2042’s early access release was the calm before the storm, finally erupting into heaps of negative reviews just after hours of the game coming out. Unfortunately, the things that Battlefield 2042 got right could be counted at one’s fingertips.

Red Dead Online has kept a steady player base since 2019 when it first came out. The title has a good rating on Steam, mustering up to 82.98% positive reviews on the storefront. Gameplay elements incorporate shootouts, hunting, horseback riding, interacting with NPCs, and preserving the character’s honor rating through moral choices. Players can travel the expansive lands alone or in a group of up to seven players, with or against whom they can partake in organized activities. However, it now seems like Red Dead Online has more concurrent players on Steam than Battlefield 2042, as revealed by SteamDB.

Battlefield 2042 is a newer title that was released at the end of last year. Battlefield 2042’s player base has declined significantly, and the community considers the game a lost cause. It seems that the title is ridden by bugs and glitches more than features, and the rating on Steam speaks for itself. Battlefield 2042 is rated with only 26.54% positive reviews on Steam. Although things are slowly improving, the community has moved on from the FPS title. A couple of weeks ago, the concurrent player base dropped to 1000 only. Right now, Battlefield 2042 has fewer active players than Red Dead Online, as recorded by SteamDB.

Red Dead Online is not free of criticism, however. The game has received less love and updates than GTA Online, which is still receiving significant additions after a decade. The fans are worried for the future of Red Dead Online, but the game is holding up well despite the lack of content in updates, it seems.
