- The studio behind Phantom Blade Zero has taken to Twitter to deny the “no one needs” Xbox rumors.
- S-Games clarified that these “claimed statements” do not reflect its values or release strategies.
- The controversial statement was misreported due to bad translation and meant something else entirely.
The studio behind Phantom Blade Zero, S-Game, has taken to Twitter to dispel the brewing “no one needs” Xbox controversy. In a newly issued statement, the devs mention that this “claimed statement“—allegedly made by an unnamed developer at ChinaJoy 2024—has nothing to do with them. S-Game claims this statement does not represent its values or culture since no platforms have been ruled out for Phantom Blade Zero.
Many players and fellow developers from the gaming industry joined in to show support for the Phantom Blade Zero studio. The Palworld CM called it “absolutely wild” for the industry to be convinced and become a part of the controversy so easily without any concrete proof. Currently, the studio is hard at work to develop the RPG and publish it for “as many players as possible.”
On a side note, the game has been confirmed to make an appearance on Gamescom this month.
All This Controversy Happened Because Of Mistranslation
The rumors first began when a Brazilian gaming site mentioned a mistranslated part from the ChinaJoy 2024 games conference interview. The original wording used by the unnamed dev seemingly defined Xbox as “a platform that does not find demand.” And it’s true; the Xbox Series X|S consoles are not as popular as the other giants in the Asian market. However, the implications of these words are more subtle and professional here.

Phantom Blade Zero has been confirmed to release on PlayStation 5 and PC. Additionally, a release window of 2026 is apparently planned. The entry was also first thought to be a Sony exclusive by some, but that is far from the case. Despite having no plans to bring the title to Xbox, it’s not impossible since S-Game wants to keep the RPG as accessible as possible.
