Pocketpair Studio Boss Calls Out Tencent For Developing A Palworld Clone

It is likely a prelude to many other similar in-dev clones.

Story Highlights

  • Pocketpair studio boss Takuro Mizobe has accused Tencent of developing a Palworld clone.
  • He shared an image of the alleged entry in a Twitter post while giving his two cents.
  • Takuro said that various Chinese studios are already working on mobile clones for the title.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has recently called out Tencent for working on a Palworld clone. Taking to Twitter, the dev shared the supposed image of the game while sharing his opinion on the situation. He appeared to be apprehensive about the situation but also expressed that these are “amazing times.” Additionally, Takuro mentions that a slew of mobile Palworld clones are already in the works by Chinese studios.

He predicts that the clones will begin launching in the near future. Takuro was likely talking about Auroria, a Palworld clone available on Steam with a planned Q2 2024 release date. This title not only copies the popular “Pokemon with Guns” survival but also refers to the in-game companions as “Pals.”

Welcome to Auroria, an open-world, multiplayer, and cooperative sandbox game. Design the Base, survive with your pals, and start your own interstellar travel in a relaxed and fun way,” reads the Steam description.

Palworld Appears To Have Inspired A Whole New Genre Of Survival Games

The Pokemon-like experience has likely propelled many other devs to try out their luck with the successful formula. However, the upcoming mobile clones will likely be riddled with microtransactions. The players’ stance is split since many claim that Palworld has also borrowed a lot from Pokemon games in the first place.
