  • Project Rene will also be free to download so players can explore without any subscriptions.

EA recently shared information about its upcoming Sims game, known as Project Rene. In a recent Behind The Sims post, the company revealed important details, such as the game coexisting with Sims 4 and will be free to download.

Project Rene and The Sims 4 will exist side by side. We will continue to support both at the same time and will plan to bring more exciting content to The Sims 4 community for the foreseeable future.

Project Rene will be Free to Download. This means that when Project Rene is ready and fully open to players, you will be able to join, play and explore it without a subscription, core game purchase or energy mechanics. We want playing to be super easy for you to invite or join friends and experience new features, stories and challenges.”

Previously, there was a job listing that hinted at the next Sims game going free-to-play. While the listing itself was pulled shortly after, the info that sparked speculations remained on the social web. Now, official info from EA confirms the free aspect of the game.

According to EA, Project Rene is an exciting new way to play The Sims, offering a fresh take on the beloved franchise while retaining its signature charm. The development team is focused on preserving the core Sims experience while introducing innovative gameplay choices. Their goal is to create a game that feels “Simsy” and provides a unique experience for players.

As for free availability, this means that players can run Project Rene without the need for game purchase, subscription, energy mechanics, or in this case, “surprise mechanics” the company is notorious for.

While Project Rene may not initially include all the features of The Sims 4, the development team has plans to expand and enhance the game over time. This means the game will continue to grow and evolve, offering players new experiences as they immerse themselves in the next-gen Sims.
