The Winter Expansion will release along with RE Village Gold Edition next month. The Winter Expansion will bring three big updates to the game.

The first will be a much-requested third-person mode, complete with animations, and is made similar to the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, with RE Village actions such as blocking and kicking.

The second big update is the story expansion titled Shadows of Rose, which also has a third-person perspective. Players will take on the role of Ethan’s daughter Rose, and the game is set 16 years after RE Village. The story takes place inside the realm created inside the mind of the Megamycete from RE Village.

Rose can possibly die after taking one hit from enemies so players will need to be extra vigilant. additionally, Rose has special abilities and powers to aid her through her perilous journey. One such special ability is that she can temporarily freeze her enemies allowing her to target their weak points to take them down quickly.

Lastly, the third big update is titled The Mercenaries Additional Orders. This will add multiple stages and new playable characters in the game’s Mercenaries Mode. The new characters are Lady Dimitrescu and Lord Heisenberg from the story of the game. Both will come with their own weapons and abilities.

The Gold Edition bundles the base game with the Winter Expansion, and both will be available for purchase next month.

More details regarding Resident Evil 4 Remake will be revealed next month on the RE Showcase, and just maybe, a demo may arrive as well that will offer us a chance to try the game a bit before release next year in March.

According to Capcom, the Resident Evil 4 remake will preserve the essence of the original game, while “introducing modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics. We are excited to finally be able to talk about Resident Evil 4!” wrote Capcom promotion producer Edvin Edso when the game was revealed.

Seeing as Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the best games of all time, it would not be wrong to say that it is possibly one of the most, if not the most anticipated upcoming games, so hopes are definitely high that it will be handled with tact and brilliance.

Resident Evil is one of the most important gaming series of all time. it may not have invented the survival-horror genre, but it popularised it and pioneered it with mechanics that are still used in horror games of this age.

Similarly, Resident Evil 4 was also a pioneering game that oozed brilliance and was an inspiration for games ranging from Gears of War to the fellow survival-horror Hall of Fame game Dead Space.

The third-person over-the-shoulder perspective was also created and pioneered by Resident Evil 4 and is a hallmark of action games and many other titles to this day. Thus, expectations for RE4 Remake are pretty high, to say the least. We can only hope that Capcom will deliver just as much, if not more, as RE2 and RE3 Remakes.
