Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Cast List Confirms Albert Wesker’s Inclusion

The franchise big bad might return in the remake for the first time in 14 years.

Horror has become one of the biggest genres in the gaming world in the modern era. But, this success would have never been possible without its most important franchise, Resident Evil. With eight mainline entries, the series has been ruling not only the survival horror niche but the gaming world as a whole in sales and critical reception.

Capcom takes full advantage of the franchise’s large fanbase, delivering brilliant remakes of the original games. The next remake in this series is Resident Evil 4, which is coming out this year. Now, the cast list suggests that Resident Evil 4 Remake will feature series antagonist Albert Wesker, confirming the rumors.

Major Takeaways

  • Albert Wesker is in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, according to the IMDB cast list.
  • Connor Fogarty is voicing the character as he did previously in Dead by Daylight.
  • As of now, we are unsure what capacity his appearance will be in.
  • The top cast suggests an essential role, unlike the original, but it is just a guess.

A user on ResetEra brought this new info to our attention. Recently, IMDB put up the cast list for the Resident Evil 4 Remake on their website. This list of voice actors confirms the major characters in the game, with the addition of one Albert Wesker.

Albert Wesker didn’t play a major role in the main story of the original Resident Evil 4. Hence, this is why his featuring in the main cast list of the remake is a surprising inclusion. Even though we did hear rumors of this before, this is the first solid proof we have.

In the original game, Albert Wesker only appeared in the Mercenaries mode mini-game. You could play as the antagonist after unlocking him on the 4th stage and use him to kill as many enemies as you can. However, this wasn’t Wesker’s only appearance in the original Resident Evil 4.

Albert Wesker appears in another bonus game besides the main story of the original. “Separate Ways” was the name of this extra mini-game where you play as Ada Wong and complete tasks for Wesker. Here we find out that Wong had been working for the big bad throughout Resident Evil 4.

It showcases the game from Ada Wong’s perspective and ties up the story. This is canon and Wesker controlling Ada was a shocking reveal at the time. Hence, even though Wesker doesn’t appear in the main story, he still influences everything happening as the bonus content shows.

Therefore, we can assume that the Resident Evil 4 Remake will explore this Wong/Wesker dynamic in detail. Connor Fogarty is voicing the character in the upcoming remake. He previously voiced Albert Wesker in Dead by Daylight and has worked in games like God of War Ragnarok, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Diablo Immortal

You should keep in mind, however, that IMDB listings can turn out to be wrong sometimes. So, everyone should take this info with a tiny pinch of salt, as the reliable website does make mistakes occasionally. But we hope this isn’t a hoax and a legit confirmation of Wesker’s return.

While announcing the game, Capcom did say the remake will have a “reimagined storyline.” Therefore it’s plausible that Wesker appears in the game to pull the strings with Ada by his side, but it is just a guess. He is present in the Top Cast of Resident Evil 4 Remake on the website, so it’s not wrong to assume he will be essential to the story.

But we will have to wait until March 24, 2023, to see if this comes true or not. Resident Evil 4 Remake launches on this date on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. We can’t wait to play this anticipated remake and see Wesker’s potential return.
