Silent Hill: The Short Message Gets A PlayStation 5 Rating In Taiwan

A Silent Hill title out of nowhere.

The Taiwanese rating board has just pushed out another entry on the official web handle, and this time, it’s a Silent Hill title that hasn’t really been out in the open before. In relatively recent times, Silent Hill: The Short Message has been rated in Taiwan and the platform associated with it is listed to be the PlayStation 5.

Of course, the business name registered alongside the name of the title is Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd., and this comes as no surprise. Some other details mentioned in the rating state that the game includes elements of violence, horror, and inappropriate language.

The Rundown:

  • Silent Hill: The Short Message has appeared on the Taiwanese rating boards as a PlayStation 5 title.
  • This isn’t the first time that Silent Hill: The Short Message has appeared on a rating board. The same game popped up on the Korean rating boards as well back in September but without a platform specification.
  • A couple of months ago, a Silent Hill Transmission was conducted, and it detailed a number of new Silent Hill-centric projects coming in 2023.
  • No further information with regard to Silent Hill: The Short Message is out yet.

Although the rating had went live in the second week of December, it only came into the spotlight now. The description for the game that’s been published alongside the rating reads,

Anita came to an abandoned apartment in order to meet her friend Maya, and somehow woke up to find herself trapped in it. She must escape her own fears and the monsters lurking in the corridors, discover the truth behind the events she’s trapped in, and try to escape before her own trauma consumes her will to survive.”

As always, Konami likes to keep it exceptionally vague when it comes to laying out the plotlines of its game. Other important details mentioned in the listing include the platform for which Silent Hill: The Short Message is listed which is the PlayStation 5.

The fact of the matter is that the game in question made an appearance on another rating board too earlier this year. Silent Hill: The Short Message was revealed on the Korean rating board in September. However, at that time, no platform was mentioned for this mysterious title with no description too.

To get you up to speed with the recent rumors and such, a Silent Hill-related title called Project Sakura was leaked some time ago and the surfacing footage showcased a person taking parts of their skin off. The parts would later transform to become cryptic messages.

Project Sakura was rumored to be a demo of Silent Hill 5 for the PlayStation 5, and now that further details for The Short Message listing have appeared, namely its platform designation, the latter could very well be a Silent Hill 5 demo. Still, we have to take this information in with a pinch of salt.

Konami is highly conservative when it boils down to revealing extra information with regard to games before they’re ready to make an official appearance, so it’s all rumors and hearsay at this point.
