Stardew Valley, the charming open-ended farming simulator, has sold over 30 million copies sold across all platforms as of February 2024. The news comes directly from the game’s official website where the developer mentioned this feat in a rather subtle corner.
Created by solo developer Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, the game stands as a testament to their dedication and talent. Barone meticulously crafted every aspect of the game, from programming and design to music and art, during the development cycle which spanned four years.
Barone has also revealed when the next major update for Stardew Valley is set to launch. Players can look forward to fresh content and even more multiplayer options once update 1.6 arrives on March 19. Console and mobile versions will get the package “as soon as possible” following the initial release.
Launched on PC in 2016, Stardew Valley quickly became a hit, moving over 1 million copies within two months. The astronomical rate of success fueled its expansion to other platforms which allowed the title to amass a hefty playerbase.

Stardew Valley initially launched on Windows back in February 2016 with a release on macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later on in the year.
