Street Fighter 6 Will Tell You If Your Opponent Is Using Wi-Fi Or A Wired Connection

The upcoming fighting game will show the connection type of all players.

Story Highlights

  • Street Fighter 6 will display whether a player is using a wired connection or online Wi-Fi.
  • Fans have responded positively to this addition with the game releasing in a few days.

Apparently, Street Fighter 6 will have an indicator that shows what kind of connection a player is using. Just as the rumors suggested, the upcoming Capcom game will display whether you are using a wired ethernet cable or an online Wi-Fi connection. Hence, you will be able to check which way your opponent is playing the fighting title with the help of this indicator.

Rooflemonger on Twitter first reported this new addition to the franchise via a tweet. This indicator will be present alongside the flag of your country/region and will represent either connection with their appropriate icons. A mobile service-like bar will showcase a wired cable in Street Fighter 6 while a Wi-Fi bar will unsurprisingly display an external connection.

Fans have wanted this feature in the popular fighting series for a while now. A vote on the ResetEra forum almost unanimously agreed that showing what connection a player is using is a great idea. There is no doubt that such a feature can lead to toxicity in an online game. People with wired connections mostly have less lag in games than users with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Hence, displaying what connection your opponent is using can cause some rash behavior toward Wi-Fi users if lag ensues. But, this feature is one fans have requested, and Street Fighter 6 servers have been seamless in the Beta. Thus, we probably won’t see any negative effects from this addition. Mortal Kombat 11 also had this feature back when it came out so it’s nice to see another major franchise adopt it.

Street Fighter 6 is only a few days away from release and has opened to universal acclaim from critics and publications. Its Metacritic score has made it one of the best-rated games of 2023 and taking into account the fan reception to the open beta, it is looking like a surefire hit. Developed in the RE Engine, the Capcom title has 18 warriors in its base roster with four additional DLC characters coming out in its first year of release.

Like most fighting games Street Fighter VI will have rollback netcode, and cross-platform and Capcom has also developed it with eSports in mind. The fighting title will finally launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on June 2 with an acade port set to release later this year.
