The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered Leaked; Gameplay & Character Skins Unveiled

A retail store somewhere has apparently broken the street date of the upcoming thriller.

Story Highlights

  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is an upcoming reimagining of the 2020 survival thriller.
  • A Redditor claiming to have bought the game 6 days early has uploaded various gameplay videos.
  • A photo encompassing six different skins spanning three characters has popped up on the forum.

Days ahead of the game’s official release, a Redditor going by the username of Teriosss65 claims that they’ve already bought The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. As such, the person at hand has gone on to upload various gameplay videos of the survival thriller on Reddit, and a separate photo that shows six different in-game skins for three distinct characters, namely Ellie, Abby, and Dina.

Alert: Spoilers ahead, especially for those who haven’t played the 2020 original.

Overall the game is pretty good, although I have only played the new game mode. There are skins for each character but I can only see the skins of three characters,” says the OP of the thread. The new game mode that they refer to here is “No Return,” a roguelike mode that Naughty Dog has brought with the remaster as a brand-spanking-new feature. Here’s a rundown of that, just in case you missed the news earlier.

As the official description of the No Return mode notes on the PlayStation page of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, the game is set to feature various characters, including those that weren’t ever playable before in the franchise, including Tommy, Lev, Dina, Jesse, “and more.” Teriosss65 also uploaded footage where they’re seen playing No Return as Tommy. Check it out ahead.

In case you were expecting No Return to have a story mode, don’t. When asked about it in the comments section of the previous thread, the individual in question replied, “No return is pretty fun, there are quite a lot of things that make it like that, the character skills, different enemies, and even bosses. The story doesn’t have anything to do with it though,” so there’s that.

On the flip side, the characters in No Return will feel fairly different in terms of gameplay, or so the Redditor tells us. “Each character starts with a different weapon, skill branch, and craftables, some characters can’t dodge but are harder to stun with melees,” and “I felt quite the difference between some of them, like their speed” are two statements that I feel weigh into the equation here.

In other news, Naughty Dog’s Senior Character Artist recently spoke quite highly of the aforementioned No Return, emphasizing how it’s super stressful and isn’t really for the faint of heart. We’ve definitely got something to look forward to here if that truly is the case.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is slated to launch across the spectrum on January 19, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, with its initial announcement dating back to November 2023.
