The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains, to this date, one of CD Projekt Red’s most prized IPs, considering how well-developed the RPG turned out to be. The game was released way back in May of 2015, so a next-gen patch for the much-acclaimed title has been due coming for a long while.
Now, according to a report by VGC last month, the developers have given out a range of time for The Witcher 3’s next-gen patch release date. The CEO of the company claims that the title remains to be on schedule and will be released sometime at the end of 2022.
According to this latest leak, we now might have an exact release date of the landing day of The Witcher 3’s next-gen patch—9 December 2022.
The Rundown:
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released in May 2015 for current-gen consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Due to the onset of next-gen gaming hardware sported by the likes of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the developer — CD Projekt Red — decided to craft a revamped version for the game that would include present-day graphics and other features.
- Up until now, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen release date hasn’t been talked about, but a recent leak by a Game employee has spilled the beans on the upcoming RPG.
- It is possible that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen patch is coming to consoles and PC on 9 December later this year.
Taking to the r/witcher subreddit to share with their fellow gamers, Redditor IamGruitt posted the following. The person involved claims to work at a Game store, which is one of the UK’s leading video game retailers, similar to GameStop in the USA.
I work at a Game and The Witcher 3 next gen just got a release date update on our pre-order screen. Might be placeholder? from witcher
Among other games, such as Tekken 8, Wild Hearts, and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, one of the entries that catches our eye is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition, slated for a 9/12/2022 release date. Now, this might as well be a mere placeholder, amounting to nothing concrete, so do take this information with a pinch of salt.
To pose a counterargument in this case though, the listing could have mentioned TBC (To Be Confirmed) as it does for several other games, such as Wreckreation, and Trek to Yomi: Ultimate Edition.
However, that does not seem to be the case for The Witcher 3. Among other things, there’s a game in there called You Suck At Parking—sheesh. Game UK seems to be taking digs at us out here.
On a side note though, it was uncovered earlier this year that the title’s next-gen release could feature fan-made mods. If that turns out to be true, CDPR might as well be taking a nod of respect for the talented PC gaming modding community out there that often turns titles inside out and makes them stand out considerably more.
