A look at the Valheim patch notes

Certain worlds on the Xbox version of Valheim will have terrain changes in small areas of the world after this update is applied. Buildings in these areas may break if you have built a lot, but there is no other solution. The developers apologize for this inconvenience but the areas need to match with the PC for crossplay to be possible. Luckily, only a small number of players will notice this change.

Moreover, the devs are also looking into an issue causing worlds to be reset on PC. Fixing these two issues in Valheim has been the main priority of the team as per the patch notes. It also reminds you that you can recover a world by using the “Manage Saves” option. In addition, if your game is unplayable due to the latest patch, you can play the last stable version by changing to the ‘default_old‘ branch on Steam.

A lot of fixes and improvements have come to the PC version of Valheim through this patch. Manual save will no longer make you respawn where you saved and can be called to a dedicated server if you are on the admin list. The left-handed mouse will also work perfectly from now on. “Swap Triggers” have been added to control options, fixing potential issues if you use a PlayStation controller.

This patch has also rectified performance issues in the main menu. Hovertext and text input will now display in a correct manner and players can use the \t and \n symbols. Because of this Valheim patch, text on signs will now be correctly lit and have no lower glow. Numerous text and UI bugs have been rectified and won’t bother players anymore.

In addition, the engine has been updated to unity version 2020.3.41f1. Some console-specific changes are also a part of Valheim patch 0.214. The graphic setting “Balanced Mode” with 40 FPS and 1440p on Xbox Series X and 40 FPS and 900p on Xbox Series S is now a part of the game. Last but not least, the Right stick will only control the character rotation on the character screen.
