  • The vague words “anime style” could suggest a complete art style or just a few instances of inspiration. The game will also feature heavy RPG elements and a loot system.
  • Procedural dungeons are also planned for Project Shaolin, according to the rumors. No release date or trailers have been revealed for the title so far.

Update: The job listings on LinkedIn have since been deleted.

We know that the action RPG incorporating the Wu-Tang Clan theme, also known as Project Shaolin, has been rumored to be in development for over two years. Despite the fables, specifics for it are barely known by the gaming industry, as most of the title is still shrouded in mystery. However, a new job listing over at LinkedIn has confirmed some integral details; the game may adopt an anime art style and will also feature melee combat.

The right candidate for this position will work closely with our animation and design teams to develop our vision for our melee combat animations with an anime style and report to our gameplay programming lead,” reads the job description.

The listing for the Animation Programmer has cleared out a few of the lingering questions of the community. Moreover, the Wu-Tang Clan-themed project will be fueled by the powerful Unreal Engine 5, as per the job listing. The project in question is in the brewer by the industry veterans at Brass Lion Entertainment. However, it has still not been officially revealed and has stayed as an “unannounced” title for the time.

The action RPG is stated to be an Xbox exclusive, but many integral details have been severely lacking. Although the codename for the Wu-Tang Clan-inspired project, “Shaolin,” has served as a direct hint to the upcoming game’s relationship with martial arts, i.e., melee. Now, an explicit mention in the job description has confirmed the precise details for good. The game’s art style may also have been established in the ad.

The “anime style” mentioned in the job listing for the Wu-Tang Clan game could mean a variety of things because of the vague words. It could suggest a complete anime-like look for the game or just some inspiration from renowned anime aesthetics incorporated into the entry. The action RPG martial arts experience will deeply combine the Wu-Tang Clan theme, likely to pay an ode to the prominent group popular in the US and overseas.

Two years ago, rampant rumors hinted that Project Shaolin would rely on weapons and a loot system to make for a hearty third-person RPG venture. Moreover, both single-player and four-player cooperative multiplayer modes appear to be planned for the alluring entry. It will faithfully adopt the direction of an RPG and feature procedurally generated endgame dungeons and plans for a lot of post-launch seasonal support.

Wu-Tang Clan will also play a profound role in making up the theme of the action RPG in question, as it will take over in creating the game’s soundtrack to add to its taste. If you are unfamiliar, Wu-Tang Clan is an American hip-hop group regarded as one of the most influential ever formed. The insane popularity of the group will soon penetrate the gaming industry on a large scale in Microsoft’s new planned Xbox exclusive.

It is worth noting that the entry appears to be in the skeletal stages of development, as nothing official has been announced for it. There are no release dates or trailers for Project Shaolin, but we may hear something official this year.
