Lucid Games Working On An “Exciting Next Generation Multiplayer Game”

Lucid Games has a new online multiplayer game in the works for next-generation consoles, recent job listing reveals.

As of recent, Lucid Games has been the talk of the town. While the release of the company’s most recent free-to-play destruction derby game for the PlayStation 5, Destruction AllStars, has received significant criticism, it seems like that’s about to change because the company is already working on a new “exciting next generation multiplayer game.”

Last night, in a tweet from Timur222 on Twitter, it was found that Lucid Games is working on an “unannounced First-Party Flagship AAA IP for the PlayStation 5,” after one of the company’s employees, Drew Williams-Rostron, who is a Technical Game Designer at Lucid Games, updated his resume on LinkedIn. However, some further insight into the project suggests that the unannounced game may be a multiplayer one.

Earlier today, we came across a recent job listing from Lucid Games on LinkedIn for the Senior Multiplayer Programmer position at the company’s Liverpool studio in the United Kingdom, the description for which reads, “we are looking for a talented multiplayer programmer to join our experienced team and work on an exciting next generation multiplayer game.”

Furthermore, the job listing also requires the candidate to have “an enthusiasm and passion for online games.” So, it’s confirmed that the company is developing an online multiplayer game. However, it’s uncertain as to which franchise this unannounced game is from. In September, it was told by Jeff Grubb and Video Games Chronicle that Lucid Games had been given the renowned vehicle combat franchise from Eat Sleep Play, Twisted Metal.

Since then, there have been rumours of a new instalment to the franchise by the company for the PlayStation 5 and since Twisted Metal does have online multiplayer, we can safely conclude that the upcoming “exciting next generation multiplayer game” could just be another instalment to the franchise. Furthermore, it has also been confirmed that there’s a free-to-play game currently under development by Lucid Games, so there’s also a chance that this may be related.
