PUBG Is Developing AAA Action-Adventure Game For PC

KRAFTON is developing an unannounced AAA action-adventure game based on Unreal Engine 4/5 for PC, recent job listings reveal.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG, was released back in July 2016 and there haven’t been many games like it since. Recently, KRAFTON, the developer behind the game, released PUBG: New State — a futuristic spin-off of PUBG exclusively for mobile devices. After months of waiting, the game was finally released in November and it seems like the company is already working on another AAA game for PC, and this one will be massive.

Earlier today, we came across a recent job listing on the KRAFTON website for the Senior Animator position at the company’s Amsterdam studio, for an unannounced project. The description for the job listing reads, “for our new Unannounced Project, we are looking for a Senior Animator to help breathe life into the diverse characters of our world. As part of the dedicated animation team, you will be expected to deliver stellar animation quality, both aesthetically and from a gameplay’s perspective.”

Furthermore, the job listing mentions that the candidate should “help breathe life into the diverse characters of our world,” which suggests that the new game could have a narrative-driven experience to it. Additionally, the requirements section of the job listing also mentions that the candidate should have a passion for playing and making games; an affinity for shooter games is a huge plus,” which suggests that it’s a shooter game that the company is working on. Moreover, the job listing also requires the candidate to have “experience with Unreal Engine 4 and or 5,” so it’s obvious that the choice of the game engine for this unannounced game will be Unreal Engine 4 or Unreal Engine 5.

However, this isn’t all. A job listing for the Senior Technical Sound Designer position at the company’s Amsterdam studio posted a couple of months ago gives us some more insight as to what this unannounced game could be like. The description for the job listing reads, “as a Senior Technical Sound Designer, you will be joining an ambitious team of other audio specialists where your skills will be essential in creating an immersive, state-of-the-art, AAA experience.” So, it’s certain that this new game will be a AAA one, probably somewhat similar to PUBG.

Furthermore, one of the pluses for the position mentions “experience working on AAA projects / shipped at least one PC title (TPS or FPS),” so we can safely conclude that the unannounced game could be a TPS or FPS one for PC, which also suggests another PUBG in the making.

In September, it was revealed that KRAFTON is working on an unannounced project on Unreal Engine 5. However, not many details were given at the time. Now, we know what the new game could be like, based on these recent job listings. Whatever this new game is, it seems very intriguing and we can’t wait to hear more about it from the company.
