Multiple Mobile Projects Possibly In Development At Bethesda

This was revealed on the LinkedIn profile of a Bethesda Montreal employee.

Story Highlights

  • Bethesda is working on more than one unannounced project. This was revealed on the LinkedIn of the studio’s employee.
  • The employee, Wandi Zhang, works as a Technical Director at Bethesda Montreal.
  • The nature or the number of those projects is unknown. But it is believed that those mobile projects might be related to Fallout and Elder Scrolls.
  • Bethesda has made no official announcement regarding those projects.

Bethesda is possibly working on multiple mobile projects. This was revealed on the LinkedIn profile of a Bethesda employee Wandi Zhang discovered by Twitter user Timur222. He is part of those projects in his capacity as a Technical Director at Bethesda. No specifics about the nature of those projects were given on his profile other than that they are for mobile.

Bethesda’s Montreal game studio is working on those unnamed mobile titles. And if the information on Wandi Zhang’s LinkedIn profile is to be believed, the work on them started at least more than 6 months ago. That was when Mr. Zhang was promoted to his current position at Bethesda Montreal. We have to keep in mind that last year in April a job listing had given rise to speculations that Bethesda is working on two mobile projects.

However, that job listing was not for Bethesda Game Studios Montreal but for Zenimax Rockville, one of Bethesda’s sister studios. But the possibility remains that multiple Bethesda subsidiaries might be collaborating on the unannounced mobile projects. So we must discuss that job listing in more detail. The job listing in question was posted in April of last year and it was for a Senior Artist.

The job listing possibly held clues about the identity of those projects. The listing mentioned the word S.P.E.C.I.A.L. At a glance, it does not seem much. But, as was later pointed out, Bethesda only uses that word for job listings posted for projects connected with games like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. And consequently, Mr. Zhang, the Technical Director of Bethesda Montreal’s unannounced projects has experience working on Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

So there is a big possibility that a few of those projects might be connected to either of those game series. Additionally, Bethesda already has released one mobile game for each of those series. The discovery of this info on Wandi Zhang’s profile has prompted fans to make their theories as well. Few of them were seen speculating that the studio might even have a Starfield mobile in development.

However, the possibility of this being true is grim because Starfield is set to be released on September 6, 2023. And there is no precedent of a studio working on a mobile version of the game even before the game’s release. Bethesda has not made any official communication regarding their in-dev mobile projects. And the speculations made above might hold some weight but because of the lack of an official announcement, we recommend you take these speculations with a grain of salt.
