With Sony extending support to PC by porting exclusives like God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn, it seems that they aren’t stopping there. As Sony has confirmed more ports, it seems like their plan is to break up the exclusive boundary on old games.
With this being said, it appears that the release date for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PC has been revealed. The collection is set to release on PC in about nine days from now, according to a recent page for the game on Metacritic. As the library for Sony on Steam grows larger, this helps both console and PC mediums greatly.
As the other titles that have shifted towards PC have had huge success, it’s no doubt that Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will benefit from the same. This collection features Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy; a very strong lineup.
The original announcement for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was over 9 months ago. It featured improved graphical fidelity and acts as a remaster for the PlayStation 5. This trailer also acts as a pivot for the PC release, which was unknown up until now.
If all goes well, this release will most likely be a hit not only for PC but PlayStation as a whole as well. The true goal for PlayStation Studios seems to be for players to see their games and switch over to consoles. Is this going to work? Only time will tell.
Another nod to their endeavors could be the fact that Sony wants half of their games to be on PC and mobile by 2025. Their plan is to release older titles, while the newer ones retain their exclusive identity. By doing so, Sony realizes the true potential of porting their games.
Nevertheless, the company will continue to milk out any profits from older titles; just because they can. With Xbox Game Studios, and now PlayStation Studios, already having a strong fold on the PC marketplace, it seems that the only one missing out is Nintendo. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will most definitely be a hit one would expect, and these hits will only grow.
