Stray Beats God Of War To Become Highest-Rated PC Game Of 2022

Our industry sees an example of this every year, and this year’s breakout indie game has been Stray.

Stray has taken the entire gaming world by storm since its release last week. The game has received near-universal critical acclaim from players and critics alike. It’s hard to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about the game’s furry protagonist.

Annapurna Interactive’s adventure game has broken many records and topped charts everywhere. So much so that it’s getting hard to keep track of its achievements. As of recent, Stray has reached another huge milestone while beating one of the biggest AAA releases on PC in 2022.

According to the recent Steam 250 rankings, Stray is now the highest-rated PC game of the year 2022. It has topped the “Best of 2022” chart, which contains the best 150 games of 2022 on the Steam storefront. This means that the indie title lead by a cat has the most positive reception out of any game on Steam right now.

What makes this better is that it has beaten one of the best PC games of the past year in doing so. Stray overtook God of War to reach this milestone and become the #1 game of 2022. Considering how God of War is one of the best titles of all time and a Game of the Year winner, this is huge.

Both these games also have a comparable amount of votes in the review section. God of War has a rating of 8.56 (or 97%), with nearly 53,000 people voting to review the game. Meanwhile, Stray has an 8.60 (or 98%) rating, with almost 38,000 people reviewing the new indie game on Steam.

Hence, this position of Stray as the “Best of 2022” on Steam is totally based on merit. Another surprising game in the top five charts is PowerWash Simulator, just below God of War at #3. It has an 8.55 rating, and it’s good to see two indie games in the top three charts. Stray is currently just breaking records and collecting universal praise from everyone, and it really isn’t hard to see why that is.
