Earlier this week, Rockstar games faced a massive hacking attack that saw an early build of GTA 6 leak. The hacker was reportedly a part of the hacking group Lapsus$, whose members have previously been arrested in the UK.

Today the City of London Police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of hacking-related crimes. The investigation was supported by the UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit as well as the FBI.
On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the @NCA_UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

The breach of Rockstar games prompted the FBI and Department of Justice to investigate the attacks. All in all, 90 videos of development footage of GTA 6 and reported source code were leaked to the public.
It is not confirmed that this individual arrested is the hacker, but many have speculated them to be the infamous individual.

The Rockstar Games hacker is also reportedly the hacker behind Uber’s massive data breach earlier this month. Authorities in the UK will give an update on the situation later today. The FBI is also expected to make a statement early this afternoon.
