God of War Ragnarök has become Sony’s new blockbuster and its sales have set new records for the company. Apparently, many of the players who have bought this critically acclaimed sequel have finished it. Nearly 42% of the people who have bought the sequel to the 2018 game have completed the main story.
To be exact 42.19% of the players who have played the game on PlayStation have finished it. Push Square first reported these findings and they figured it out through trophy info of the game. Hence, nearly half of God of War Ragnarök’s player base has completed the game in just two weeks.
Major Takeaways:
- 42.19% of the players have already completed God of War Ragnarök in 2 weeks.
- Only 3.9% of the players have obtained the Platinum trophy as of now.
- The game’s length might be a reason for this low Platinum rate.
Although this number might not seem that much, it isn’t a bad start for a title of this size. God of War Ragnarök is 23.5 hours long which is almost 3 hours longer than the 2018 revival of the series. Hence, considering the length of this game this isn’t a bad start at all.
Most of the linear single-player games of this size have similar completion statistics at this time. God of War Ragnarok was also bought by a record 5 million people in its first week, which is unprecedented. So when you factor all of that in, 40% of the players completing it in 2 weeks doesn’t seem so bad.
God of War Ragnarok is the fastest selling PlayStation Studios title ever, selling a colossal 5.1 Million Copies in its first week. It beats the previous record set by The Last of Us Part II

Push Square also mentions how many players don’t finish these games according to trophy data. Therefore, this is a solid start for God of War Ragnarök considering its size. It is a big game compared to other linear titles, so completion stats will increase later on.
On the other hand, the Platinum trophy unlock rate is a mere 3.9% at this stage. The platinum for the sequel is not a hard trophy to earn compared to some other games. But again, the size of the game makes it a bit time-consuming to obtain all of the trophies.
Going back and forth in the game to gather all of the collectibles is a really tough task. Finding all the treasure chests in God of War Ragnarök is also very time-consuming as they are spread throughout the realms. So, this relatively low Platinum rate is due to the nature of these trophies, even though they aren’t hard.
God of War Ragnarök has been a success beyond compare for Santa Monica and Sony so far. It has become the biggest first-party launch in the history of PlayStation and easily met its sales targets. Hence, the amount of copies it has sold also feeds into the low percentage of Platinum trophies.
The game has smashed records in every country including Italy and had a bigger launch than Call of Duty and Elden Ring in the UK. God of War Ragnarök is currently showing no signs of stopping, and its player base is only increasing. So as time goes on, the completion and Platinum trophy percentage will increase.
