This is reminiscent of the gameplay strategy found in Dead Space. In fact, a “One Gun” achievement in Dead Space involved using only the default weapon (a plasma cutter) to eliminate enemies. Similarly, in Callisto Protocol, it’s prudent to save your credits by using your default weapon effectively.

This strategy allows you to allocate credits for crucial upgrades rather than frivolous purchases. Focus on enhancing your hand cannon, an effective weapon that can carry you through the game, and make wise decisions when upgrading the GRP and Riot Gun, which can be especially valuable when acquired for free in the game.

Don’t Hold Unnecessary Items 

When you start the game, you’re given a limited inventory space, which includes ammunition, healing items, and GRP batteries. You’ll come across a Reforge Station early in the game with enough credits to purchase a hand cannon, effectively acquiring it for free. As you progress, the hand cannon can become a powerful and cost-effective weapon when you invest in its damage upgrades.

Spending just 600 credits for an upgrade can significantly enhance your ability to dismember enemies, making it more efficient in combat. This, in turn, allows you to deal with enemies more effectively and fend off potentially deadly attacks.

Buying Upgrades

The final upgrade of the hand cannon will unlock alt fire in the game. You will be able to hit enemies with explosive rounds at the cost of more bullets. The gun will use five bullets at once, and most of the time, you will kill your enemies with just one shot of an explosive round in the game. However, keep in mind that some enemies might require more than one shot.

After that, you will receive the Riot Gun, which is a very powerful shotgun. You will need the shotgun in the later chapters of the game, where enemies get harder to defeat. The point-blank damage dealt by the riot gun and its magazine capacity will also be upgraded.
