Story Highlights
- id Software has accumulated over 300 employees on LinkedIn.
- The studio seems to be working on a new project, which could be the same project previously teased by Bethesda director Todd Howard.
- If it is the same project that Todd Howard was very excited about, we might be in for a treat.
- Since id Software still hasn’t confirmed it, we can’t be sure when the project will be revealed.
According to id Software’s LinkedIn, the studio boasts over 300 employees, showing its growth as it works on a new project. While details on this project remain scarce, it could potentially be the same “truly awesome” project that Todd Howard teased in an interview with IGN (Jump to 6:25). But as there has been no confirmation from id Software, we cannot say for sure.
id Software’s recent milestone shows positive growth and potentially tells us that the studio has gathered more hands to work on its new project. Although it lacks the necessary details, it was recently slipped by Todd Howard in his interview with IGN. This slip of the tongue was heavily overshadowed by other parts of the interview and the ongoing hype of Starfield.
Todd Howard started by discussing the areas of development of Starfield, where id Software assisted, and proceeded to spill the beans on the ongoing project. He stated, “I am such a fan of what they do, and being able to get an early look at what they are doing next is… I’m not here to talk about that, but it’s truly awesome.” Shortly after, he received a nod from PR behind the camera and the topic was quickly changed.

It is also possible that this project is entirely different, but there is no way to confirm that unless id Software speaks on this subject. Nevertheless, the studio’s growth is a positive sign for its ongoing project, and considering how the Bethesda director himself was very excited about this project, we might be in for a treat.
id Software has worked on several popular IPs, including Wolfenstein, Quake, Doom, and Enemy Territory. Having a catalog of great classic games, their upcoming work is something all gamers look forward to. One thing we would want this upcoming project to be is a Quake 2 reboot, which would be a great throwback to Lovecraftian horror. Quake 2 Remastered also seems to be in the works, as the South Korean rating suggests.
